IR Blaster Repeat factor does squat
Hi all
As 70 of you read, i am having trouble tuning my motorola QIP2500 with a USB-UIRT. It works fine tuning through the hauppauge PVR, but for several reasons, i'd rather use the UIRT (going to have multiple tuners, hauppauge drivers suck, etc) When sage sends a remote command through the UIRT, my cable box gets double digits, no matter what i do (tried changing tons of things, using the default moto remote codes and my own, nothing helps) The UIRT guy was kind enough to point me to the learn helper program on his website (which is not linked from his page for some reason?) and i was able to get good channel changes through it with the default as well as my own remote codes. His helper software is able to change the IR blaster repeat factor (heretofore known as IRBRF) as well. When i change the IRBRF in his software to 6, i start getting double digits on my cable box. 5 gets me double digits half the time. 1-4 works perfectly. I've set sage's IRBRF to several values, 0 thru 10. All of them repeat the digit twice. Can anyone tell me how to actually change this value so sage respects it? I checked the text file that sage dumps for the IR data, it does reflect the proper number. For some reason, sage is going off and using some other value, likely 6 or higher. My trial period on sage ran out before i was able to get a good handle on whether or not i want to use it -- so i bought a license. I hope this was a good idea. thanks

I use the USBUIRT in multi-zone mode and I've had problems in the past when changing one of the parameters through the Sage interface (I think it was the repeat count). I always just edit the .ir file manually using Notepad then re-start Sage (both the UI and the Service) to make sure it takes.
Repeat Count is on the second line of the .IR file - and I definitely had to set this lower than the default value of 10 (I'm not at home right now, but I think I had to use 2 or 3 to get consistent results).

Yeah, i checked the text file and the value had changed.
I even went as far as to chop off half of one of the lines of one of the digits and then test that digit to make sure sage was actually reading from that file (it did, and the digit no longer worked) weird, eh?

I noticed a few things:
1) if i copy the default motorola cable box to a new file with a new name and edit the file in notepad, i can make the changes i need and they will stick. 2) if i attempt to edit this file (specific remote settings)through the sage GUI, the changes will not take for any of the settings if i hit the regular "Big" enter button. If, however, i hit the little enter next to the numeric keypad (both buttons on my keyboard are called enter, no return here), then i can change the time between channel changes and between digits. but still no changing the repeat factor. So the short answer to my problem is that i needed to copy over the ir text file and edit it by hand and now i'm set.

Tiki's note about taking the default value down to 3 did the trick for me. TY. I have changed from Time Warner to DirecTV and now to FIOS... and the only tough step has been getting the usbuirt to send the commands correctly. U guys rock.
