Commercial Skip Options on Mac
I'm looking for a solid commercial skip solution for SAGE TV on a bunch of macs. We are in the process of retiring our beloved, but not-HD compatable Replays and the family is completely.
Love the software, options, GUI, but I need a commercial skip solution. Thansk in advance. |

Windows?
Yes, I could run something in Windows Parallels, but then I might as well put a windoze box as the SAGE client. I have some old stuff lying around but the rest of the shop is all Mac, and I've gotten used to working on stable systems when not at a client. I would hate to be find out that my recording system crashed when I wanted to see something...

Well, I'm pretty sure there are no native Mac comskipping programs (there's really only two programs in total both windows - comskip, and showanalyser). Really, if an extensive software collection is what you want, the Macs, even at this stage, are still a little limited... "You knew the job was dangerous when you took it, Fred!"

Other products have ComSkip built for them
Not to name the competition here, but there are other PVR products that have ComSkip for the mac enabled. I just like the Sage PVR tool significantly better. Unfortunately I may have to use something else.

That's not all that helpful. go ahead and name what you are talking about. And if that is the case, what is it using for comskipping?

EyeTv uses a version of Comskip that was ported over. I don't know if it can be for SageTv.

It is a port of an obsolete version I believe, that only does MPEG2. If that's all you need, I'm betting it could easily be made to work with sage as well (as long as it still outputs a text file with cut points, it should work fine). Still, if MPEG4 is your need, then it just isn't going to get it done, and parallels, or windows (I think it runs in wine on linux as well) is the only option.

Ziger,
I did come across this thread, I don't know if it will help you or not. It is an older thread so it may not apply to your needs.http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...ht=comskip+mac JRad |
