OT: Philips Universal Remote not learning?

Hi,
I know this is off topic but wondering has this happened to anyone? I bought a philips universal remote (PMDVR8) and the last couple of days the red send light was staying lit until I would remove the batteries. Well tonight when I removed the batteries and then reinserted them the remote does not want to learn anymore. Has this happened anyone else? Is there a way to reset the remote? Some sort of hard reset?
Seems it would cost the price of the remote to return to Philips and it is over 30 days old and so cannot return to Best Buy for the guarantee.

It got stupid!

Just a silly guess, but did you try new batteries?

Sometimes these remotes have a "secret" code to reset all data that will make it learn again, but I have no idea what yours would be or how to find it.
