Problems with added Hauppauge pvr-500 card

I just installed a Hauppauge pvr-500 as well as the MCE kit from Hauppauge in a Windows XP system. Now I get continual error messages from the Media Center Receiver Service (encounters error, has to shut down). If I disable it, the messages stop but SageTV is not able to add the two tuners (doesn't see a signal) and, it basically hangs up; just waits with the rotating pause symbol. The source detail for the cards say "Functioning true", "Network Encoder: false", "currently being used for live TV: false". A different application that came with my HTPC, TodalMedia Monitor, is able to use both tuners. Any help with what's going on?

Thanks
