Make sure you have all of the animations enabled in SageTV. I've seen this type of behavior if the animation system is disabled, or partially disabled. I think the setting is in the detailed setup.

all options under >detailed_setup>Amination_options are enabled, doubled checked just now to make sure.
If it helps, other menu animations all seem to work fine, biggie sized font, highlighted selection, etc outside of tvexplorer.... |

I don't know what else to check I'll need razrsharpe to come to the rescue.

By any chance did you install v7 and then copy any files/folders from v6 into your v7 directories?

Well, two things come to mind:
- I did an upgrade from v6 to v7, not clean install. - it MIGHT be possible I had the version for sagemc copied over at one point after the v7 install. But if I did do that I would have installed the default stv version over that,... without having removed the other files.... assuming it would do no harm...? |

I'm taking a guess here, but I did something similar when I moved my v6 install from XP to Windows 7. Since I didn't want to lose all my settings, I installed and then copied files over. Because the folders were different (i.e. Program Files in XP versus Program Files (x86) in Windows 7), the paths were wrong. I also found that I didn't copy all the theme images over from my other installation. What this resulted in was a SageMC main menu with many missing parts (images, highlights, etc.). Your situation does sound similar.
In order to try and prove out my theory, you could try two things: 1. Hunt down the paths and correct them (I'm not sure where to start off the top of my head), as well as ensuring all the required images for your chosen theme are in the proper folders. 2. Perform a fresh install of v7, starting with a completely blank directory.

Thanks for the suggestion, unless I misunderstand, my situation seems very different to me, maybe I'm not getting something or am unclear. I MIGHT have copied the tvexplorer files intended for sagemc (inadvertently) , I never had sagemc installed... I might have grabbed the wrong download the first time I did it, no way to check that I know of. When I upgraded from v6 to v7 it was from a vanilla v6 install. I did the install (possibly the wrong one) and noticed as I described no way to see what menu option was selected, trying to make sure I didn't mess things up, I did the install again, starting from the download page and made sure it was the one for the default stv, same result.

Unfortunately i don't have any insight into your highlighting issue... but lets try installing the version of TVE that i have running.. I have confirmed this works on v7. This will be what ends up in the repository once i can depend on the sagemc.jar
To install:
If everything goes according to plan you should have a TVE item under TV on the main menu. Let's see if that fixes it.

All better!!
Followed the instructions and now it's all working great. I followed the older posted instructions on installing for v6 I guess. my own fault. Thanks all for the suggestions and ideas, Greatly appreciate all offers of assistance. Razrsharpe, thanks for the fix. |

So my next question: If I setup a couple client machines w/tvexplorer, will each track it's own watched/not watched or is it all pooled? I ask because it's useful to help me remember where "I" am, and I don't care what others in the house have watched on their setups....

it's pooled. Sage would need to implement the notion of "users" in the core in order to track individual watched status.

All I can say is WOW! This is awesome. Is there any way to set this as my default recordings screen in V7?
Edit: Never mind about the default recordings screen. Somehow it is the default for me. BTW, the old problem where deleting the last recording in a group leaves you stuck unless you go back to the main menu is back. Last edited by toricred; 08-21-2010 at 07:43 PM. |

ya that's because this port is based on 1.01.028 for sagemc that tom did a while ago... he never updated his code to 1.01.040... I may do a difference between the two and update this to 1.01.040 but no promises because i really want/should be working on tve2

No problem. I was just pointing it out in case it was an accident. I'd rather see your efforts go to tve2 as well. Just so glad to see even this version available.

How come I can update setting for TVE on my server, but when I go to "Load Settings" on my HD-200, it won't load them or allow me to change any of the settings?
Has anybody seen this before?

iirc (been awhile since i used the feature and cant check right now) when you bring the load settings dialog up it allows you to navigate to the file that you saved (presumably from running "Save Settings" from the server). Load settings by itself will not load the settings from the server (you need to save them on the server, then open them on the hd200)... or at least thats how its supposed to work in theory....

That's what I did. I did the settings on the server (easier to type numbers on a keyboard), called it "large.properties" via the Save Settings box. Went to my HD-200, pulled up the "large.properties" file under Load Settings and nothing happens.
I also can't change a single setting in the TVE settings manager, so that's probably my bigger problem.

Windows permissions issue, perhaps?

ya thats what i was going to say next.... can you change other non tve settings? TVE uses the sage api to write to the same properties file as the rest of the ui so nothing weird should be going on there...
you can also do it the manual way:
EDIT: I'll try to remember to check this out on the V7 port and make sure its working... perhaps something else is broken.

You are using the V7 port correct? Is there a copy of the sagemc.jar in your jars folder? You need to do this manually because as of yet I cant depend on just the sagemc jar (thats why this version of TVE is not available in the plugin manager)... The main place the sagemc.jar is used is in generating the options menu....
EDIT: but it works from the servers instance so the sagemc.jar should be there
