Placeshifting the Olympics

I dusted off an old PVR-150 capture card and an old SD STB and I am using it to Placeshift the Winter Olympics and it works remarkably well. I've been unable to use the HD-PVR content as I don't believe my ISP allocates enough upstream bandwidth. The SD content from the PVR-150 is very similar quality and streams beautifully across the Internet.

there shouldn't be a difference in bandwidth requirements for placeshifting Sd or HD. the server should be transcoding any HD material down to SD for the placeshifter stream anyways. More likely the problem with the HD-PVR streams is the processor on your server can't keep up with transcoding it.

BTW, talking about placeshifting the olympics. I am currently for few weeks in Europe and the olympics are here on certain channels 24/7 with very limited commercial interruption on public OTA televisions (free). Most Americans dont know what they are missing while still having to pay for the crapy experience they are getting.

well, to be fair, it IS still just the olympics... so how much are we REALLY missing? Most of why they AREN'T shown 24 hours here.. well.. people just don't care that much about them. 'American Idol' beats Olympics in ratings.
