Boxee & Sage

Anyone know if something like this is possible with Sage and Boxee?
http://boxeewmc.teknowebworks.com/

It allows someone to automatically exit WMC and into Boxee and back.

You can use the same method as me, via EventGhost. You map a button that will run boxee, switch to the boxee process, and remap they keys to boxee (ie when I press the up button on my remote, it will translate into pressing the Up Keyboard, pressed on the selected boxee window). So far i have that for boxee, sagetv, and the HuluDesktop.

Wow thats awesome!
Can you post your EventGhost mappings ?

Currently I have a laptop Win7 MC with Netflix, Hulu, and Boxee, but I would like to just dump the laptop and just use my SageTV server + Boxee + Eventghost.

I also do the same thing using LM Gestion. I have the Green button on my MCE Remote mapped to start Boxee and a custom script I got somewhere on the internet, I'll find the link eventually, and just run Boxee on top of SageTV.

PluckyHD, Boxee has a much nicer music interface, IMHO, than sagetv. It also has nice integration of Last.FM without any complicated plugins. I hate to beat a dead horse but it will also play back h.264 bluray rips without stuttering on my Ion client running windows 7 using the built-in Win7 codecs. SageTV will not do this for me. It stutters badly. I finally gave up and just use boxee to watch my movies.....

Here it is

Just remember to have usbuirt configured on eventghost rather than on Sage, all the IR commands are capture in eventghost, and then forwarded to the appropiate App

The online video integration is a lot sweeter, ie when you want to watch an episode, it lists you all the possible sources (hulu, network webpage, etc). It has an app addon support, for MLB fan it has a nice interface with scores, you can share your watchings with friends, just to name a few... Still no guide/or capture device support.. so Sage is still winning on that area

Can't imagine why using Boxee compared to SageTV (w/same codec) would give you different results on blu-ray rips. I wonder if your java heap settings are too low or something.

What does everyone think about this?

Instead of Sage continuing to update the Online services, they somehow link out to Boxee using a HD-1/2/300. The EP's Play-on addon works OK, but...

How about the HD300 incorporate the Boxee interface, something like a Boxee box + Sage.

Boxee is certainly looking for partners. I would love to drop/cut back on my D* >$125 per month bill.

I love boxee for online content! I also have the problem of my HD vids not working in sagetv. I now use boxee for movies as well.
I setup a link on my sagetv home screen that will bring up boxee and put sagetv into sleep mode. When I exit boxee it brings sage back up. I mainly use sage for dvr and livetv these days. I have a giant music collection and sage takes a while to load it up.. where boxee doesnt even blink.

Dont get me wrong I still love sagetv but there is a lot that boxee can offer that sage doesnt.

I really like Boxee. I have always been a fan of XBMC and they are using a lot of that core in the product. The GUI is really smooth and a definitely a step above Sage.

Boxee is no where near a replacement for Sage but I now use it for all online content. Since the demise of the Netflix plugin I have been looking for a good online solution for a HTPC. I replaced the Sage Online link with Boxee. It gives me easy access to Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, Pandora and more all in one UI.

The Music and Movie libraries are pretty but don't seem to deliver everything I want at this point. They controls within the video player are pretty weak and the Music player does not recognize any of my playlists. I also found the navigation and filtering options limited. I still have not found a easy way to edit and add metadata on media to meet my needs.

Still overall a good product. I would love to see Sage leverage them for Online content. A Sage plugin for Boxee would be great. They could make money selling the server back-end software for people that want DVR functionality. Boxee is going to sell a lot more extenders than Sage ever could by itself.
