No more data with plug-in

I've been using the Canadian data plug-in since it got released. But last week, I realized I had no data in the EPG. Tried rebooting. No change. Since I have 3 PVR250, I removed one line-up in the setup and re-added it. EPG populated fine.

And today I realize that the No data is back. What's wrong?

Thanks

Myro :-)

Are you using the latest version of the plugin? That log output seems characteristic of one of the earlier versions.

Please download the latest version, shutdown SageTV completely, update the plugin, restart SageTV then remove all of your sources in SageTV and re-add them all. It is very important that you remove and re-add ALL sources when updating the plugin.

Regards
Lester

Did all that just now. Everything is back to normal. I'll see in a couple of days if it's still ok.

Few questions:

1. How often does the plug-in downloads the data? Every night?

2. Can we do something about the accented caracters? They don't display correctly, showing weird caracters instead. Couldn't the import script (or watever) transform every "é" "è" etc into the same letter without the accent (like "e")? Or is Sage able to display accented caracters but I just don't know how...?

3. How do I know which version of the plug in I run?

4. While trying to debug, I logged on the ZAP2it direct data web site and saw that my subscription expires on 2004-06-08. What happens after that? Can I extend my subscription?

Thanks for all your help

Myro :-)

1. The plugin has no control over that. SageTV decides when it needs new EPG data and calls the plugin at that time

2. Accented character corruption will be fixed in the next release (I expect that to be within a week or so)

3. You don't :-). I will in future implement a naming convention on the plugin download so that by looking at the filename you can determine which release you're running.

4. Zap2It will send you an email near the end of your subscription. At that time you will have an opportunity to extend your subscription.

Regards
Lester

Wow, this is what I call fast and great service. And it's free.

Keep up the good work. And let me know when the accented caracters is fixed, I can test it for you.

Thanks again

Well... It worked, but now it doesn't. From the log, looks like it ran on the 19th (probably when I last updated the plug in), but hasn't ran since then.

removing a source and re-adding it forced the plug-in to run and I got data for 11 more days. I'm good for now, but I don't think it is the way to fix it

Lester, even with the last plugin, it still doesn't update the data. After 11 days, I get an EPG with "No Data" in it. I have to remove a source and add it to populate the EPG. Any hint?

Is the date of the zap2itdata.xml file current? I.e. did it actually download the data but SageTV simply did not import it?

Well, lets says that I remove/add a source on May 1st. I configured to have 11 days of data. The log on this day has May first everywhere. And 11 days later, nothing has changed in the log (still May 1st dates everywhere) and I run out of data. So this is why my guess is that it doesn't download the data "on it's own".

In that case I need to see the contents of the sage log file for days other than the days where you "force" an update by removing/re-adding a source. You'll probably have to run one of the RC's instead of the final release in order for the sage log to be produced. So start SageTV, get the EPG updated, wait two days then send me a zipped version of the log. If it's too big to post, send me a PM and I'll give you an email addres to send it to.

Cheers
Lester

I don't have the log file on my system. And from what I could gather from the forums, there is no way to enable it in the final release (running 1.14.10). Where could I get a RC? Any other way to get a log file?

You're going to have to contact Frey Support on this and ask them to supply you with a version that has the log file enabled. Please mention that you are running 1.4.10 and why you need the log file. Once you're set up with that then we can proceed.

Cheers

So here is my log using RC3, Clean Install of WinXp Pro with all security updates applied, and a fresh install of Sage. Browsing works fine, but I get this error message repeatedly. I've attached the logfile (small). What do you think?

thx

Ok, from the log it looks like you're getting some sort of I/O error back from the Zap2It webservers. Are you running any sort of firewall either on your computer or on your router? This could be causing this problem.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply Lester.

nope I'm not any firewall or nat either. I'm directly connected with no firewall in place. I think my ISP runs a router but everything get through it except this app..

I'm out of ideas on this one. Looks like it might be something specific to your system. I really can't think of anything else for you to try at this stage.

Hopefully xmltv works out for you...

FYI, I uninstalled SAGA TV completelly and re-installed it, with the plug in. Seems to have cured my problem. Data is downloaded every few days. Mystery...
