How to RemoveProperty completely?

I looked through the Studio manual and searched here about removing properties and the consensus seems to be that setting the value to null "removes it". From what I've seen it really does not. The property is still in the .properties file but with a null after the "=".

The same thing happens if I call RemoveProperty(), the property still is in the .properties file.

How do I completely remove a property from the .properties file?

Thanks,

Tom

are you sure about that (make sure you shut down the client after removing the property before checking the property file)? because I've tested this... when TVE loads defaults it removes all TVE properties before adding back the defaults...

I checked that before posting. After calling RemoveProperty() the property is still in the SageClient.properties file. I haven't tried it on the server or an extender/placeshifter yet.

Check again. RemoveProperty() does definitely work; I've just verified it using Expression Evaluator. Of course, as razr says, you must either call SaveProperties() or shut down the client to flush the change to the file.

Also make sure you're checking the right file: SageClient.properties for SageTV Client or for the server's UI when running in service mode. If you want to remove a property from Sage.properties on the server, call RemoveServerProperty().

It should be removing the property line & did so when I tested setting one to null or calling RemoveProperty() just now.

Maybe you haven't saved the properties yet? Entering & exiting the Config Wizard menu will force the properties to be saved. Or, just call SaveProperties().

OK, I'll try again. I must be doing something wrong because here is a snippit from the .properties file after calling RemoveProperty("a") and then exiting the client.

Code:
a=
aa=b
aaa=aa
aaaa=aa
