USB-UIRT Quit Working with Win7 x64
I just upgraded the hardware (and software) on my SageTV server. I am now running Windows 7 64 bit Enterprise with UAM off. I am using two HDPVRs along with a USB-UIRT. I have been using the USB-UIRT for the last 6 years without any issue. After the upgrade I can not longer get it to tune my sat boxes. I am running the latest drivers and Sage sees it fine. Everything appears normal, the light on the front of the USB-UIRT even flashes when I send IR codes to it but the SAT receivers just sit there.
Is anybody else having trouble running Windows 7 64 bit and the USB-UIRT? HC |

Have you tried using the free LrnHelper program? With LrnHelper, you can find out what codes are being received by the USB-UIRT and transmit the codes with the USB-UIRT, independently of SageTV.
I don't know if the LrnHelper utility works with Windows 7, since I don't own that operating system yet. Dave |

Are you using the USBUIRT for both an IR Receiver (to work with your remote control) and as an IR Blaster (to control your STB)?
Are you running SageTV in Service mode? If your answers to both of these is "yes", and you are using Win7, then that is the problem. When you run Sage in service mode, it is the service that uses the IR Blaster, and the "client" that uses the IR Receiver. These 2 pieces have different security contexts. Windows 7 does not allow 2 different security contexts to access the same driver (USBUIRT driver) at the same time. I have not found any way around this. Currently, I just use my USBUIRT to control my cable boxes, and I use the IR Receiver that came with one of my Hauppauge PVR-150's to handle the remote control. However, I have been told that if you use a 3rd party application to interface to the USBUIRT, rather than using Sage directly, you can make the USBUIRT work for both. Some possible examples that should work are LMRemote KeyMap, Event Ghost, Girder, HIP.

Thanks Dave! That's what I needed. After some testing with LrnHelper I discovered that I needed to up my Repeat Factor from 2 to 5. My old system had worked fine with 2 but for some reason on the new system it would not work until I increased it to 5.
