Two tuners, same cable service, seperate lineups
As the title says, i've got two tuners, same cable service (listed as comcast san jose digital rebuild), but as one runs through a STB and the other is a split off the cable line as it comes into the house, I have configured their line ups differently.
THe problem. If I do the STB one last, then I have all channels available. However, from time to time, the one with basic cable attempts to tune to the higher channels as my live and recording device. It can't, either gets static or stays on channel four tunerwise but the OSD says it has changed. If I do the basic cable tuner setup wizard last, then I don't ever have the problem of static where there should be channels, this is because all of the channels I enabled on the higher range of the tuner (HBO, Showtime, etc) are no longer listed (as they weren't selected when I configured the basic tuner). Is this a Bug, or a known problem with a known (or no) work around? |

You can do a channel setup separately for each tuner. Just uncheck the higher channels on the 'basic cable' tuner.

Make sure you do it in the source setup wizard for the individual source, and not the overall channel list.

Redemption, you need to set them up as different providers, ie the one through the STB should be a digital lineup, and the one using the cable direct should be basic or expanded basic or something.

I too have Comcast, the best way is that in Sage there is a "digital lineup" and then there is a normal lineup. I use the normal for the tuner cards and then the digital for the cable box, Disable all the lower channels on the cable box and so it will only tune the box when it needs the higher channels, I also have the same tuner card with the standard channels, so it gets listed with both composite and tuner in the Setup Wizard. Something else you may need to do is set the merit of the card using the composite input lower than other tuners, otherwise Sage may select it to record a show in the lower channels and then when it needs the tuner box it will have a conflict even though the other cards may not be recording anything.
