Plugin Doh!
Hey there...Just trying to get the plugin to work.....read the thread below...I have checked all the settings and they are exactly as they should be but still no joy
I dont get a zap2itdata.log ...all I get is the consistent "which of these 4 providers do you use" question. I have reinstalled as suggested in the previous thread, I am 100% certain that the settings are as per the instructions. The only possible thing I can find wrong is that if I go to http://labs.zap2it.com/ztvws/ztvws_l...MS01-1,00.html and try to use my username and p/w that works fine. When I log into the website at http://datadirect.webservices.zap2it...gs/xtvdService as per the zap2itconfig.xml it fails to log me in and then gives me a failed authorisation message. Does this mean that I have installed correctly but the data download is failing and consequently I get the 4 $%^ing providers being offered to me time after time? Can you offer any help for a poor confused soul? Last edited by ry12a; 04-17-2004 at 05:40 PM. |

Odd. If you are using version 2.0.15 or lower then please post your most recent sage log (I don't believe 2.0.16 produces logs?). Better yet, to get the smallest log file possible do the following;
1) Shutdown SageTV completely. 2) Restart it then try to update the guide 3) Now post the most recent log file. This should be small since you wouldn't have done much activity in Sage. One other point, what do your username and password in the zap2itconfig.xml look like? XML is very picky and you can't use special characters like "&", "#", "%" and others. To be safe, keep your username and password strictly alphanumeric (i.e. letters and numbers only, no other characters). Also make sure that any letters you use are ASCII only, no international characters with accents, etc. Cheers Lester

Thanks for the reply
I am definitely not using anything other than alphanumeric chars in the username p/w, I have attached the sagetv_0.txt that is generated when I try this procedure...also I have sent you a PM with the sage.properties in it for your information. I am using the latest release of the Sage beta...RC1 Would I be right in thinking that logging into http://datadirect.webservices.zap2i...ngs/xtvdService and giving my username/pw should get me beyond the authorisation required for that gateway? Another thing for you to try. Is the zap2it directory containingg the plugin class files in the c:\Program Files\Frey Technologies\SageTV folder?
If your username/password were incorrect you would still get a zap2it log file being generated. Your problem sounds like the plugin code is not even being found. This means either 1) The importplugin line is incorrect in the Sage.properties files (it does look correct in the one that you sent me though). OR 2) The plugin class files are not in the correct directory (i.e. c:\Program Files\Frey Technologies\SageTV\zap2it). Make sure there are no spaces whatsoever in the import_plugin line in the Sage Properies file and doublecheck the location of the plugin class files. Cheers Lester

same problem
i have the same problems. First i wasn't getting a log file but realized I didn't have the class files in the right spot. Now, after punching in 00000 as a zipcode i get a message saying Can Not Connect to Server. dunno if this should work but I went to the site in the xml file and when asked my username and password, they don't work. Should it? I know its the same user and PW for Zap2It cause it works there.
So long story short, Can Not Connect To Server |

The zap2itconfig.xml is written in XML which is quite picky about syntax. Properties in this file are described in the format: <propertyName>Value</propertyName> Only "Value" must be modified . So for instance for the property <userName> a possible entry is: <userName>bobsmith</userName> Please check your zap2itconfig.xml file and try again. Cheers Lester

Other than that your setup looks fine. What seems the be happening is that you're getting an invalid response from the Zap2it servers. This is most probably due to an incorrect username or password. Also doublecheck your zap2itconfig.xml file (see my post above). Cheers Lester

still a no go
Hey Lester,
Ya i did sign up at labs.zp2it.com. Everything is set up there. My xml file has the right user and password. I don't know. You think maybe its firewall issues? My norton firewall poped up the first time sage tried to connect, I accepted it, but I do also have a Net Gear Router. You think maybe its not letting sage connect? I'm just guessing. One more thing, if i goto the site in zap2itconfig.xml where it gets the lisings, .(datadirect.webservices.zap2it.com/tvlistings/xtvdService) should I be able to use my username and password through internet explorer? Cause when I try it gives me an "unathorized" message. But the username and password are the same as labs.zp2it.com. I copied and pasted Last edited by phantomfsoc; 04-21-2004 at 04:46 PM. |

You might try disabling your firewall and looking at the settings on your Net Gear to see if anyhting is being blocked. I'd suspect the firewall as a culprit in this case. Lester

Just fixed the same problem.
I think the error is in your sage.properties file. Make sure the plugin name is correct (and do not use and lower case "L" where it shows an upper case "I" like I did. Should be "zap2it.zap2itimportplugin" Not sure if case matters. |
