Single letter hotkeys & "search" dialog

I'm using SageTV 6.6.2 on Win7 64, no remote. I use several hotkeys that are just single letters, e.g, "Sage Recordings" is "R", "Program Guide" is "G". When I'm in the Program Guide and press "R", Sage takes me to Recordings which is great. When I'm in the Main Menu and press "R", I get a dialog that looks like a phone pad (3 letters per number), asking me to "Enter search text", with "r" insterted in the input field. Is there a way to get rid of this search dialog, so that pressing "R" in the Main Menu would take me to Recordings?

You can try disabling Instant Search in Detailed Setup -> Customize, but I recommend that you not use single letters linked to commands like that because you won't be able to enter those letters in any text entry places.

Thanks, exactly what I wanted. I don't use search and I don't remember ever needing to enter text manually.

OR... you could get a remote. ;-) They are much lighter than a keyboard...

Who says I need a remote? I don't have a TV or a home theater. For the little TV viewing I do, I use Sage on my computer, so I can easily get back to computer work.
