Growl for Windows on the iPhone thru Boxcar app

Currently it is NOT possible to utilize Growl for Windows + Boxcar (currently an iPhone only app). It IS possible however to use Growl on a Mac in conjunction with the Boxcar app. I am one of those people with Windows machines all around and an iPhone.

I started using SageAlert (thank you Slugger!) and learned about Growl for Windows in that thread. Then I started trying to figure out how to get the notifications "pushed" to my phone vs emailed or texting. I use the email option now but I hate using the iPhone's messed up email application, too many clicks to get in an out of the accounts I have.

I had posted a question on the Boxcar support site in hopes of getting my Growl for Windows (GFW) notifications pushed to the Boxcar app on my iPhone, only to find there is currently no way to do this. Later on the developer for GFW found an replied to the Boxcar developer's response to my original question.... and there may be some hope of this happening! Right now they are just tossing around ideas on if there is any interest for Growl for Windows/Boxcar plugin. (I'm obviously a +1 vote for this myself!)

I am starting this thread to see if there is any interest in this with my fellow SageTV users. Below are links for those interested...

SageAlert: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44056
My support inquiry on the Boxcar site: http://help.boxcar.io/discussions/qu...ns-thru-boxcar

I have no affiliation with either company, I am just another SageTV "tweaker" with an interest of getting push notifications on my phone which would require programming skills I don't have.

I know nothing about Growl or Boxcar, don't have an iPhone, and don't want to derail any discussion of those issues. But it should be trivial to get SageAlert to send SMS text messages to your phone via your carrier's SMS gateway. Since you're an iPhone user I assume you're with AT&T, in which case just have SageAlert send email to yournumber@txt.att.net.

Well it might be trivial to get SageAlert to send SMS text messages to my phone, but I don't use texting unless it is the absolute last option. I mentioned that I use email over the texting option, but now want an app-centric solution. Maybe there are others like me that hate using text messages.

I want to use an app that happily sits on the springboard of my phone and alerts me as to what is going on at home with my machines. I thought I might share what I know about possiblities of such an app. If I only help one person, I'm happy.

Just wanted to make sure you knew about the SMS option (which wasn't clear from your original post). Wasn't really looking to start an argument.
