Recommendations for indoor OTA antennas
Does anyone have a recommendation for an indoor OTA UHF/VHF antenna? The broadcast tower is about 25miles away.
Thanks ![]()

In short no indoor is as good as an outdoor antenna. I assume you went to www.tvfool.com to figure broadcast direction and distance and topography.
Before you buy an antenna read this: http://www.hdtvprimer.com/ANTENNAS/TemporaryPage.html It shows some pretty graphs about some of the antennas available and some may work for you. In general VHF reception is a real problem for these antennas. As far as conventional indoor antennas (I don't use one) I have heard of a couple that are good: Terk HDTVa. The "a" stands for "amplified". They also make a version without the amplifier. With the amplifier, this is a very good indoor antenna. Even without the antenna, it is better than any of the antennas above. This antenna also incorporate rabbit ears. This Winegard SS-3000 is supposed to be better. Buy from a place that has a generous return policy, try them all and return the ones that don't work out well. A few more geeky links - http://www.antennahacks.com/ http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=119485 Here is Sagetv forums link that may be interesting.

jerryt, JetreL and RocKKer,
Thank you. ![]() That was exactly the information I was looking for. I did google antennas and did some reading prior to starting this thread but as is usually the case there is enough conflicting data to make things more confusing. Thanks again. I will post back with my final choice and results.
