Harmony One

Is anyone using the Harmony One with the HD200 and running the latest firmware? STV v7 beta?

Thanks

I am looking to replace my Universal RF20 remote with the Harmony One and I wanted to be sure that it would work. One reason I am replacing my RF20 is that the arrow'ing feature causes very eratic and jumpy movements around the HD200 UI in extender mode. Does the Harmony One smoothly arrow around the UI like the HD200 remote?

Thanks

I use older Harmony remotes and have had no problems at all w/ Sage, MVPs, or the HD200.

I have both the Harmony One and HD200 remote and they behave identical. If anything, I don't have to point the Harmony at the HD200 as "directly" as the HD200 remote. I love it.

I also await said good sale!

One thing I struggle with is that I actually like the 650 better than the One...BUT it only controls up to 5 devices. I just can't justify the cost for the thing with that limitation (at 4-6 devices now I want to control).

The One lacks the 4 color buttons in the middle, which I know would be useful for Sage (e.g. Dislike, Aspect Ratio, etc.). I also don't know if I love the rechargeable approach as I think getting my own re-chargeable batteries might be a better solution. What I wonder about is whether a refresh to the One is in order given the changes to the new remotes like the 650. I asked on the Logitech blog, but didn't hear back - not surprisingly.

Just thought I'd share my thinking.

You bring up good points!

According to the Logitech website the Harmony One is supported by 225,000 device codes and the 650 by only 5000. Is it possible to get codes from Logitech that are not stored on the remote? Is the 650 truely restricted to only 5000 codes?

Controlling only 5 devices is not an issue for me but being able to use a device code is important because I have at least one component that has keys that can not be taught to my Universal Remote RF20.

you can go to the website and enter in your equipemnt and see if it can control it. On the One, you can learn codes as well.

According to their website all of my devices, except the HD200, they have codes for. I also found out that there is a Harmony 700 which looks just like the 650 but controls up to six devices.

I can purchase the 650 for $99.99 or the Harmony One Refurbished for $129...hmmmm

RE: Rechargable... Go for the rechargable... my 880 (I think) will run for well over a week on a charge and drop it on the charger overnight when it tell you it is low and it will be ready the next morning.

I think rechargeable is a good feature..... I am really struggling with paying more for my remote than I paid for the HD200! Unless I go with a refurb Harmony One the best price I have found is $199.

Ah but is the remote more than the cost of your TV + HD200 + possibly an AV receiver + speakers?

I have a Harmony One that controls my TV, Denon 3805, HD200, Squeezebox and PS3 (with the logitech adapter). This setup can be complex in getting the right devices set to the right inputs etc and my wife would NEVER be able to turn the TV on without the Harmony. So the price seemed extremely low compared to how much more useful all that other gear now is to my wife. She can easily switch from watching recorded shows on the HD200 to watching Netflix or a Blu-ray on the PS3.

Ahhh..... yes WAF is nearly priceless WAF is precisely the reason I was looking at the Harmony One. My old Universal RF20 can not learn from some of the keys on my new AVR and these trouble keys are ones that will be used frequently. If I can live without recharging then the 650 may just do the trick!

OK, to Harmony One owners: Should I not worry about loosing the 4 colored buttons that are newly introduced on the 650, etc. remotes?

Is it easy to get to the many useful functions on the HD200 remote like "delete," "not like," "aspect ratio"? Will I have to navigate a bunch of menus to do so?

I don't have the One but I have the Harmony 880 - I think they work pretty much the same.

There are several "soft" buttons at the top of the remote that are adjact to the LCD screen. For these you can map other commands that don't have a natural counterpart on the regular "hard" buttons. So I map these to stuff like Aspect Ratio, Delete, Options, etc. It is very easy to do in the computer program.

Keep in mind the HD200 is called "SageTV" at the logitech forum. It certainly has all the codes by default.

The Harmony One supports 6 touchscreen buttons per page, and you can have many pages. So if you can't find a hard-button to use for any certain function, just make custom buttons on the touchscreen.

Update

The Harmony 650 was on sale recently for $79.99 so I picked one up. In less than 10 minutes it was programmed and running my home theater setup which includes a HD200! WAF is off the charts!

Thanks to all for their inputs!

Anyone notice on these remotes that the exit button doesn't work like the back button on the default remote that comes with the extenders? I think the exit button is required at certain times but other times the interface expects a back. When I press exit it doesn't work. I had to add the button to the custom touch screen section but that doesn't always work the best.

Anyone notice this?
