Interest in a music visualization plugin?

As the title says I'm wondering how many of us would want to be able to use itunes, winamp, wmp, xbmc or any other visualization with sage. I remember there being a winamp visualization plugin for v6, but I haven't seen anything like that for v7 yet.

I'd certainly use a plugin like that.

That would be sweet.

Do you know there is some sort of visualization in v7 now? Looks cool. Reminds me of the 1st versions of milkdrop (i think).

Hopfully what ever you make would be usable for the HD200.

Here's a vote for R4 if someone can figure it out.

I spawn it using JRMC/Girder today, but tighter integration with Sage would be nice.

linky

easily the coolest visualization I've ever used, and nice since it is purely just that - it is independent of your favorite media player (WMC, Itunes, JRMC etc all work)

It can easily be custom controlled via telnet / http (switch visualizations, etc)

From the r4 site.

Quote:
NOTE: - The R4 Executable (not plugin) does NOT use WinAmp. It requires you to set your soundcard to record from either wave or record master (or line-in if you are working from external sound). That can be done via the sound icon in the bottom-right. If You have another application running that is trying to record sound, R4 will probably produce an error and not run properly. You should install R4 into ITS OWN directory - Not the WinAmp one.
You have to set the soundcard to record? Wierd. Sounds like this could be easily launched when music starts playing.

I just wanted to add that I'm not a plugin writer. I'd love to be able to, but I don't exactly have any programming skills. Maybe we should turn this thread into a feature request. I just wanted to know how many of us there were out there that would want a plugin for visualizations. I'm going to mess with eventghost and see if I can get this to launch when music starts. Now if I only had dynamic menu's to make this easier...

Just in case you missed it i have the winamp visualizations running on the Standard v7 stv. (see the original winamp thread for details of editing the stv). The only problem was finding the appropriate references of "View Vizualizations" to add the Winamp Helper menu.

I found 2 and, as I described in the other thread have reasonably predictable operation .... i just love the Milkdrop visualizations...

I understand many people had trouble with this in the old versions so i guess you should expect varying mileage...

This is like what I am talking about. I want one for more than just winamp plugins. I'd like to be able to choose the program or plugin to use for visualizations. As much as I don't like itunes I really like their visualizations. Winamp's are also some of my favorite.

If you could port your configuration of the old winamp plugin to a v7 plugin found in the manager that would be an awesome start.
