Help with HDHomerun and SageTV please!

When I use the HDHomerun setup software, I can watch 2 HD channels in particular (NBC HD, Fox HD) with VideoLAN VLC perfectly.

However, SageTV does not pick up these channels at all when I run its channel setup process.

I then manually added both channels to SageTV via the channel setup screen.

When I preview both channels (again, via the channel setup screen in SageTV), I get a signal strength of 100%. However, I don't actually see the channel in the preview window. Instead, I only get the message "Loading Preview. Please wait...."

In SageTV's Program Guide, I do see the EPG data and the program listings for these channels. However, when I select a program to watch, I don't see the program. Instead, I only get the message "No Signal".

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thank you.

If you are using Windows, have you followed these instructions?

Thank you for posting those instructions, Opus. Yes, I did follow those instructions.

I am using Windows 7 64-bit OS. My SageTV is version 6.

I do not understand why Opus considers this a hardware issue (HDHomerun).

He says that I have a problem with my tuner, but my tuner receives all the HD channels perfectly. It's the SageTV software that does not display 2 HD channels.

SageTV and Windows 7

Is it necessary to upgrade to SageTV v.7 if I have Windows 7?

I am wondering if that is why SageTV will not display 2 of my HD channels (NBC and Fox), which HDHomerun (my tuner) receives and displays perfectly.

Thanks.

Are you using cable or an antenna? If cable, make sure you are running the latest beta HDHomeRun software as it has improved scn file generation in Windows 7. Also make sure that the channel names and numbers match what Zap2it has for your area as this is used by SageTV when importing to automatically configure guide data. Also make sure that you run a full channel scan on each tuner; do not just use the same information from the first one.

Hi JasonL.

Thanks for replying.

I'm using cable (Atlantic BroadBand in Augusta, GA).

My channel names and numbers match what Zap2It has for my area. As I mentioned above, SageTV displays the proper show schedule in the Program Guide. SageTV will NOT play/show the actual TV shows even though it registers 100% signal strength.

I am only using 1 tuner (the HDHomerun) and I did run a full scan on it.

Based on what I mentioned above, do you think I should still run the HDHomerun beta software?

Thanks.

In my PM about your moved post, I suggested that you read the forum descriptions before choosing a forum to post in. If you would read the description of this (hardware) forum at the top of the page, it should be clear why a post about a tuner used with SageTV belongs here.

Please keep posts about the same topic in one topic.

There used to be a patch for v6 that I think solved some issues for some people using the HDHR on Windows 7. Those changes are built into version 7, so , yes, it probably would be a good idea to try v7 instead of v6 now in addition to the HDHR update Jason posted about above.

The changelog mentions SageTV 7 since that is what prompted the update, but the improvements do apply to 6 as well.
