TapaTalk...

I would like to propose the Tapatalk plugin for the forums... It would be so much easier to read the posts. Best of all, it would be free for SageTV to do so!

Tapatalk is a forum app on the iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, and Nokia platform(s). The app provides super fast forum access to any vBulletin, IPBoard, phpBB or SMF forum that has activated the Tapatalk plugin.

It's a simple plugin that can be installed and running in 10 minutes!

Tapatalk is a mobile forum app for iPhone / Android and soon to be on Blackberry and Nokia. Tapatalk supports vBulletin (3.x and 4.x) and phpBB forums and forum owner can activate this service for free. Tapatalk supports all the usual forum functions plus full screen image viewing, image upload, caching (less reload), private messaging, all these features are accessible in just a few simple taps.

Tapatalk for iPhone:
Showing New and Unread Posts:

Full Thread Viewing and Pagination Support:

See Who's Online:

Reply to Post and Image Upload:

Some of the large forums activated Tapatalk support

Tapatalk for Android

Total Android Look and Feel

Same feature set as iPhone:

Full screen image support - support landscape mode also

Let Andy know of your interest!

I personally wouldn't pay 3 bucks to respond to forum posts on my phone.

Then don't But that doesn't mean others shouldn't have that option made available to them if it's a no/low-impact change to the forums.

Nowhere in my post did I state that others shouldn't have the option made available to them. I was stating that I do not see the value in it for me.

Does that mean that just because I don't agree with your opinion that I should not post mine? Good luck finding any thread on this or any forum where everyone agrees with the opinion of the original poster and everyone stands around holding hands singing kumbayah.

If there are more people that don't care about it than do care about it, then that helps them make a decision as to where to allocate resources to get the most bang for their buck.

My apologies for inadvertantly stepping on your toes. Such was not my intention.

I messaged Andy (Opus4) about 3 months ago about implementing Tapatalk, but he never replied.

I also gave him the alternative which is a mobile theme for vBulletin: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=174375

I think the tapatalk app is more flexible as you can do more, but either solution will enhance the forum browsing experience on a mobile device.

+1 (at least for a mobile version of the forum).

Of course I am loving my DroidX and with the big screen I can read the normal forum just fine too. But it certainly takes more to load it.

Ditto.

I like a mobile version of the forum (Tivo's forums have a mobile version that works great). I don't personally like 3rd party apps to view forums though.

I'd also love a mobile theme for the forum... I've asked before as well... but I don't think there are enough of us to make it worthwhile

Put me in the camp of those who would like better mobile access, but don't see why I should need to buy a separate app to do it. HTML ought to be adequate.

Imagine the time it would take for Sage to code their own mobile version of the forums, if that's even possible in a vBulletin forum. Forget that, I'd rather have them spend their time improving the product. Instead, install the Tapatalk plugin for a vBulletin board by registering here: http://www.tapatalk.com/plugin.php . It's completely free to install the plugin. The app only costs $3.
