PVR S-Video Input from Cable Box
Hi again,
I am wondering does the S-Video to composite convertor with the PVR 350 work? Currently I have tried it from my cable box which has only composite out and all I get is black and white picture. Anyone using this input from a composite cable? Patrick

Yes, it does work. However, when you set up the tuner there is composite 1 and composite 2, if you select the wrong one you get a black and white picture. I usually test which input I want winTV2000 before I configure the card for SageTV.

Well seems it is a driver problem also, finally at 1am this morning I got "composite_2" with color, I had been trying WinTV2000 to see which input was giving color and noe were on it either. I did some more searching on SHS's site and it was there that everyone concluded it was a driver issue and so I did several clean installs with different drivers before I got a set that worked.

Why not just use Composite or Svideo
if you do composite to svideo in on the card it is not going to make the quality any better or doing svideo out the cable box to composite input will not make the quality any better you have to go by the weakest link or by eye ( maybe you see something I do not) Robert |

My cable box has only composite out, the PVR 350 has only an S-Video input, so I had to use the convertor. Seems that it then uses Composite_2 on the inputs of the PVR 350 options.
For some reason the cables I have here will not work for S-VIdeo from the PVR350 to my Home Theater Amp, no idea why. Patrick
