Got mine too this morning, in the Netherlands. Great piece of equipment, very small!!

The only bad thing was the customs bill. EUR52 (!) changed hands this morning

But it's worth it :-)

I am getting ready to ship a bunch of personal stuff for my move to Belgium, and this VAT tax is ridiculous. It's not like I am reselling anything.

You should not be charged VAT or customs duty for personal effects when moving from one country to another. Your shipping agent should sort this out.

Obviously HMRC are too efficient or at least the Post Office are on their behalf. Here in France La Poste charged me €0.

Has anyone from Canada received a HD300 yet? I was just wondering what your final cost was after shipping, taxes and other fees.

As was noted, you will not have to pay VAT or import duties for personal items. When I moved to Europe (The Netherlands) I moved a whole housefull of stuff + a motorcycle and did not pay a dime.

Before returning to the States I sold the motorcycle and did not have to pay VAT or duties on that either. The caveat was that I had to show I owned it for at least 6 months before moving to The Netherlands (I did) and that I had it in The Netherlands for at least a year (I did.) The upshot of this was that I sold a 8 year old motorcycle in Europe for more than I paid for it new in the US and the person I sold it to thought he got a great bargain.

Pray that our wonderful politicians do not impose a VAT or rediculous import duties on us here in the US.

Yeah, it turned out the shipping guy where I work was ignorant about this. It turns out that it shouldn't be a problem if I itemize things clearly for personal use and keep it separate from corporate shipments.

Thanks...now I got to work out the Sage situation.

On an even brighter note, Belgium has incredible beer!

I received mine a couple of weeks ago here in Ottawa. No extra charges (taxes, duty, brokerage fees, etc). Final total cost was $187.98. I shipped via USPS.

If anyone ordered an HD300 just before it was launced amd hasnt received it yet, I suggest you ask SageTV if theyve posted it yet and get the tracking number if they have.

Ive just done this myself and found it was posted on 17th September and arrived in the UK on the 23rd. Since then its been sitting waiting for me to pay the VAT and handling fee (£23).

If I hadnt asked SageTV for the tracking number I would still be waiting as I have had no indication from Parcel Force that they were wating for me to pay them.

Deliver now scheduled for tomorrow

My letter turned up from Parcel Force today. That was nearly a week after they received it. Good job I tracked it on their web site.

They would have to replace the US power adapter before it could be sold in the UK.

The price of shipping within the US is even high if you ask me. These boxes aren't big and not heavy. I just assume sage doesn't get a great rate from UPS because they aren't constantly shipping. I considered overnighting a single HD300 after I ordered the other six ground but it was something like $60 and I thought that was too much...

Received my HD300 today in Ottawa (CAN).

Shipped on: October 19
Received on: October 28

Value for duty = $162.05 CAD
HST charged = $8.10
CPC handling fee = $5.00

Total COD payable = $13.10

On top of the $24 shipping this still seems reasonable and worked out cheaper than driving across the border to pick it up.

Looks like I paid slightly higher than you for ordering/shipping at approx. the same time:

Received my HD300 on Oct. 27th in Toronto (CAN)

Ordered on: Oct. 17
Shipped on: Oct. 19
Received on: Oct. 27

Value for duty: $153.89
HST Charged: $20.01
CPC handling fee: $5.00

Total COD payable: $25.01
Plus $24 shipping
