Replacing SD tuner with HD tuner - Need expert advice

I currently have a PVR250, two PVR150s and a dual tuner HDHR.

I want to add an HVR1600.

Since all my PCI slots are full, i will have to remove one of the SD tuners to make room for the 1600. I am thinking about removing the PVR250 (since its a single tuner while the 150s are dual tuners).

What is the cleanest way to remove the tuner? If i remove the card, will Sage take care of itself or will i have to edit the properties file ?

Also, Sage currently sees the PVR250 as Tuner #1. If i remove it, will it try to renumber the other SD tuners ? Will that cause any problems ?

The PVR150 is not a dual tuner. The PVR500 is a dual tuner card that appears as two PVR150s in Device Manager. If what you actually have are two separate PVR150 cards, then you currently have just one tuner per slot and it won't matter (from that point of view) which one you choose to remove.

No, you won't have to edit the .properties file. You can just power down the computer and pull the card.

Tuner numbers are based (I think) on the order in which the OS discovers them during Plug-and-Play enumeration. These numbers have no significance in Sage so it won't matter to the software if they get renumbered. However if you use a custom UI or UI mod that displays tuner numbers on screen (I believe SageMC does this) then you might have to get used to a new set of numbers. But again, this shouldn't affect the operation of the software.

That said, why not just keep all your SD tuners and add a second HDHR? What would the 1600 do for you that the HDHR won't do?

I do have two PVR500s that look like four 150s. Thanks for correcting me.

Got the 1600 off of ebay for cheap.

Thanks for your response GKusnick. It really helped.

I pulled a PVR-150 from my system, but the remnants of it are still visible in the Sage Properties file: "Hauppauge Win TV PVR PCI II Capture". Also, there are many lines of text, all with the same "xxxxxxxxxx" number. Can I just delete all those lines from properties, since the card is now out of the system?
