Video Conversion Strips Season/Episode

Hopefully this question has not been asked before. I searched the forum but didn't see anything. I am currently using BMT 4.6 with Sage 7 and have had BMT working since I first started using Sage 6.6. I recently added bialio's plug in to show season/episode numbers in the show details screen. But after I installed the plug in my TV shows still did not have season/episode numbers. So I checked the WebUI and found that all the season/episode fields on all my TV shows are set to zero.

While I was in the WebUI a new show started recording (Two and a Half Men) and I noticed that the season/episode numbers showed up right away (season 8 episode 1). I wasn't sure what to think about this but I had other things to do so I had to leave this for the next day. When I re-checked on this show the next day it too was like all the rest of my TV shows and had the season/episode fields set to zero.

I have somewhat limited storage space so I have all my favorites set to automatically convert from HD mpg files to high quality mp4 avi files to save space. After conversion the original files are deleted. I figured since Two and a Half Men started out with the season/episode number populated and later these values disappeared it might be due to the conversion. So I turned off automatic conversion on two other shows and both shows recorded and populated the season/episode correctly. When I checked on them the next day the values were still there. So I manually converted both files to avi and after conversion the season and episode numbers were set to zero. So it appears the conversion process strips out the season and episode number and BMT is unable to repopulate it automatically. I can repopulate the numbers manually in the WebUI but using the get meta date button.

Is this a known bug either with Sage or BMT? If not do I have a bug in my set up?

Thanks for any advice.

Dave

It's not a bug with BMT, since bmt has done it's job, before the recording was transcoded. It would appear that Sage is not propagating the custom metadata for a media item during the transcode (and I'm not sure that's a bug, or by design).
