New movies covers missing

Pluckyhd, hope you can help with this.

Two days ago I added two new movies. However the covers have never shown up in SMM. The posters and backdrops show up fine and the covers are present in MM.

I have imported new media many times in SMM, I have deleted the MMdatabase after stoping the Sage service and then restarted. I have optimised the MM database.

In MM I was using BlackGlass. I switched it to default, it regenerated the covers, I stopped the service, deleted the SMM database, restarted the service, and now no covers are showing up. I also re imported media.

Did I miss somewhere that said we cant use different cover styles?

I re cached and now the covers (all) are showing up.

Deleting the database will have not effect on the covers . There is a known issue with Mymoives (not related to me) where it is not regenerating new covers when using a coverstyle I urge you to bug that with them again (I have as well). Changing the coverstyle and changing it back (with the sagetv service off) should fix the issue. Keep in mind on startup it could take a bit for it to rescale the covers.

I have this problem as well. Unfortunately, switching and rexporting the cover style doesnt always seem to clear it up. I actually had covers show up and then disappear!!!

If i change the coverstyle and re-export, what do i need to do in SMM?

I have a feeling this may be related to client caching on my end partially. I will look into that today.

A quick way to test is delete the client cache (default\sagetv\sagetv\cache\mymovies)

and then restart the client if that fixes your issue let me know.

Found a issue in my client caching so this should fix allot of peoples missing cover issues on clients or extenders as clients.

There really seems to be something wrong. On my system, new covers haven't been generated for the extender for the last 20 DVDs (or so) that I've added. Now the interesting part is if I run SageTV with SMM through remote desktop (directly on the WHS, i.e., not on the extender), then all the covers are there. So it doesn't look like a MyMovies issue (and I also tried switching and re-exporting the cover style,but that didn't help at all).

If I delete the cache for the extender, all covers disappear - but they do not get re-generated. If I move the cache files back, then all the covers are back (except the new ones that had been missing, but still aren't being re-generated).

So I am really looking forward to this fix of yours...

When you say "delete the cache" for the extender do you mean the sagetv\sagetv\cache\mymovies\extender folder? Just wondering if so then yes the fix will correct your issue. For now if you delete that entire mymovies folder you issue should also be corrected. This only effects users who don't run mymovies as the server on the machine their extenders connect to or are running a client pc.

Yep, I just periodically delete that cache and it fixes my covers. Bit of a pain but it works

No, I did not delete the complete sagetv\sagetv\cache\mymovies\extender folder, just the contents of the ..\extender sub-folders, e.g., all the files in ..\extender\covers - so the cache folders were empty. This did not solve the problem, i.e., SMM did not generate the covers.

To trigger a complete recache in the current build yes. After you deleting restarting the sagetv client with trigger the caching. In next build this shouldn't be necessary.

OK, I've tried it and deleted the whole structure. SMM creates the empty folder structure again - but I'm not getting any cache building dialogue and no files created in the sub-directories.

What now? How long should this usually take before the first files start showing up?

Should cache the next time you go into SMM again I believe.
