Command-line walkthrough
Can anyone point me in the right direction to get the latest version of BMT working from the command-line? I've been running version 3.x quite happily for some time and I'm only updating because of the imdb scraper/parser issue. I do not (and do not want) to run BMT from my sage computer. I run it on a totally separate computer and just want it to grab a poster, fanart, and make a .properties file. When I run it now I just get a bunch of errors, probably because I don't have phoenix in the same folder. Is there a .zip of everything I need for phoenix? What are the new command-line args for BMT that I hear about?
Really I just want some basic documentation. I don't need to be handheld at all, just point me in the right direction. Last edited by megamojo; 10-18-2010 at 06:31 PM. |

If you wanted to test the commandline functions you can install the Sage7 plugin for bmt web, and then copy then run java -jar MetadataTool.jar from the sagetv home. Once you install bmt as a plugin, you can disable the plugin so that it doesn't automatically update your media. After you have it installed, you can then copy the MetadataTool.jar and the JARs to another location and you'll have everything you need to run bmt from the commandline... but the 4.x release has fewer options, then in 3.x. Just running java -jar MetadataTool.jar will show the options.

Can I get the plugin without installing it through the sage 7 gui? I'm still running 6. Since I got a new job I haven't had much time or motivation to play with updating sage or running non-final software.

I simply don't have the time to support multiple versions the tool. I had to make choices, which means that some features got cut, only support new sage releases, etc. I don't build a "full" bmt release any more, because in Sage7 it is plugin based, and as such, I only need to deploy more core jars... and then depend on the other jars. Because of that, the bmt package is rather smal (1 jar).
