RC18 Audio problem
In RC3, when I have SageTV sleeping (and regardless of whether it is recording anything or not) and I am using another app to play mp3 files, every minute, on the minute (according to my pc’s clock) I get a little hiccup in the audio. This happens whether I am using J River’s mediacenter 10 or winamp, and when I am using either the wav out or directsound output options on either program
I am using M-Audio’s Audiophile 2496 card. Further observations: -this does not happen if sage is not running -when I actually am in sage while the other app is running and playing music (typically it is MediaCenter), I get more or less the same hiccup any time I highlight or select a menu option. -the menu hiccup occurs in RC2 but the on-the-minute hiccup does not—that only happens in RC3. -the on-the-minute hiccup happens even when I’m using RC3’s internal audio jukebox -the on-the-minute hiccup corresponds, as nearly as I can tell, with the following entry in Sage’s log file, which appears up to 5 times each minute, all in a row, and occasionally other times as well: Sun 5/9 23:33:00.020 BVF renderVideoBitmap data.length=345600 w=720 h=480 targetRect=java.awt.Rectangle[x=0,y=0,width=720,height=480] vRect=null Which looks like it’s doing some sort of video rendering while it sleeps (why?) -this still happens on the minute regardless of the length of any audio processing buffer-which indicates to me that this is not the result of any processor bottleneck. In fact, task manager doesn’t ever show more than 15% usage while sage sleeps and I’m playing an mp3, and it usually hovers around 5-7% during that activity So I can live with the hiccupping while using sage’s menus since I don’t use sage to play music but the on-the-minute thing is a real bummer since I really set up this machine to run sage and to play music on mediacenter thru my delta m-audiophile 2496 sound card Assistance will be greatly appreciated. I am also going to submit this as a bug. |

Update: this only happens when UI out on PVR-350 is enabled. when UI out is disabled, I can flip the mouse cursor and arrow keys around to my heart's content and there is no interference with the music. and the on-the-minute thing is gone too.
life is better. not perfect, but better. |
