Placeshifter stops showing video after fast forward

I have been having this issue with placeshifter for quite some time. When I watch an recording and start playing it from the beginning, all is well..If I fastforward but any significant length of time ie: about >1 min on the OSD, the time mark moves forward and continues to play incrementally but no video shows up after the time jump. It remains at the screen just before the time jump. I can fast forward 10 secs without difficulty, it is just a problem with larger ones. When this happens, i have to stop the playback, and restart it from the beginning and then it works. This is extremely inconvienent when viewing a 4 h golf recording...I don't know if this has been a problem with only HDPVR recordings..I know that they have notoriously been a problem with placeshifter but it doesn't seem to be a playback issue but more of a buffering issue...
any suggestions in tweaks to placeshifter would be appreciated. I realize that the server has to transcode hdpvr for placeshifting and i have a adequately fast C2D which should be able to handle it. The fact that it plays from the beginning is testament to that. Somehow it can't play when it has to seek a later time in the recordings. sorry for the longwinded explanation.
