Noob Question: "Browser Videos", Where is right side of screen?
SageTV7.xml.
In the UI, I'm looking at Videos | DVD/BD | Videos by DVD/BD. In SageTV Studio, I'm looking at Browser - Videos. When I select Browser - Videos, sure enough, there is a yellow rectangle enclosing the entire window. When I select Menu Container, the yellow rectangle encloses the list of DVD titles. So far, so good.... But I cannot find the widget behind the DVD information on the right side of the window. I've selected every widget under Browser- Videos, but no yellow rectangle. What am I missing?

While in Sagetv viewing the Videos - DVD/BD screen, bring up Studio (CTRL+Shift+F12) and go to the Debug menu at the top and select UI Components. In a new little window you will see all the components listed that make up the current screen. You can work your way down the listing and find the Detailed Info Panel and under that in the tree you can find all the components that make it up. Once you find the item that highlights the info area right click on it and select "Highlight Widget" and you will be taken to the widget in the main Studio window.
Hope this helps. Last edited by jorton; 11-15-2010 at 09:37 AM. |

I guess I have to revisit the docs to clear up my misunderstanding of what the main SageTV Studio window shows.

Absolute Widths?
When I'm working my way up a chain of widgets, the props dialogs always express width as a "Fixed-Width" slider with a maximum value of 1.0.
1.0 being 100% of something... but what? Seems like, somewhere near the top of the chain, there sb a parent/enclosing widget with an absolute width value.

But 1.0 is 100% of the parent menu or panels width. |

Mea Culpa. I thought this was the studio forum.
I'll take it there.

Absolute Widths?
I originally posted this in the "Customization" forum.
Now I know it belongs here, so here it is... ----------------------------------------------------------------- When I work my way up a chain of widgets, the props dialogs always express width as a "Fixed-Width" slider with a maximum value of 1.0. 1.0 being 100% of something... but what? Seems like, somewhere near the top of the chain, there sb a parent/enclosing widget with an absolute width value. PluckyHD has observed that it is 100% of the parent menu or panel's width - but I can't find any parent with a width expressed as an absolute number - only more expressed as percents of 100. They all seem to have similar props dialogs when it comes to height/width. My first guess is that there is something in those props dialogs that's going over my head. * moved; merged *

It's possible to specify sizes in absolute pixels (see p. 20 of the Studio manual), but generally you don't want to do that. You want to use relative sizes so that the whole UI scales smoothly when the user resizes the window.
