Problem adding unc path to media import directories

Hi,

I'm using SageTV 7 and I'm having problems adding new media center import directories.

The directories I wish to add are on my server. I understand the SageTV cannot access mapped network drivers, for some peculiar reason.

So I need to use UNC paths, but I cannot get it to work.

I select "Specify..." and enter the UNC path, this one for example:

\\server\shared on e\music\mp3

and press enter. Then I just get a message saying that this directory does not exist and it asks if I want to create it.

This UNC path DOES exist, I can verify that by selecting Start->run and pasting it there and press enter. Works fine.

What am I missing?

EDIT: Yeah, and If I press "Up directory" until I get to "My computer", I can see an option called "Network". If I select that, I just get a message after a while which says "Invalid directory".

Are you using SageTV in service mode? If so then you need to use the UNC path and I don't know why it would not work the way you have it. Oh, you may need to go into the service settings and add the username and password. Open up Sageservicecontro.exe and then use the "change user" option to put in the login name and password.

If you are not using sage as a service, then you can simply map the network drive in windows and then use the media import directory settings to navigate to the drive letter and then down into the directory where you need.

For instance you can map it as X, so you would have

E on 'servername' (X
or something like that.

Then in sage you would navigate to X on your local machine, then to shared -->mp3
or whatever the directory is.

Hi again,

I finally got around creating a new user and letting the SageTV server run as that user.

Now everything works like expected. I can add a UNC path to the media import directories, in the form \\server\share_name

Thanks!
