Trial overwrites existing install?

I purchased way back in the 4.0 era...and upgraded to whatever version was free (pre 6.0). I've been fine with this, but saw the trial for 7.0 and decided to try it out. I copied my entire C:\Program Files\SageTV folder to a backup, and then installed the new version to C:\Program Files\SageTV7.

7 looks nice btw However, I was only wanting to poke around for a bit, and then run the original install for normal viewing.

The SageTV folder has lost some files! Namely, SageTV.exe! The shortcut and Start menus have all been changed to version 7 as well.

Did I do irreparable damage? Before I step in it any deeper, can anyone provide insight as to how I can a) get back my old system and, if possible, b) play with the trial instance on the same machine?

Thanks so much!
Chris

Sage isn't designed for side-by-side installations of different versions. You get one installation per machine, including trials.

To get back to what you had before, your best bet is going to be to uninstall V7, uninstall your original version, restore your old installation directory from backup, and then re-run the old installer on that directory.

If you just want to play with the new version without keeping it, the simplest approach would be to image your disk, install the new version over top of your existing version, and then restore the saved disk image when you're done playing around. (Or else use a different machine.)
