HELP-Really broke it now
I'll try to keep this brief.
While trying to solvemy blurry probl;em I hooked up a small 13" monitor to my FX5700. I am running it and my 64" RPTV in clone mode so I can fix things when I lose the picture on the RPTV. Problem 1- I started to notice that powerstrip (unregistered version) would not chnage the resolutions when I selected them Also the hot keys that I set to go back to a working resolution didn't work when the keystrokes were typed. Problem 2-Today I upgraded my Nvidia drivers from 56.64 to 56.72 (Just released adn XP certified. I did this remotley today fro what it's worth. I also edited the registry with the two settings recomended for Hauppauge users for improved quality (chnage value to 1). Came home and looked at the RPTV and everything was out of sync. I tried to use powerstrip and that only made things worse. 1) I upgraded to the new powerstrip beta with the new Nvidia drivers, Powerstrip would not load in the system startup. Launched it manually and all went to hell even on the monitor 2) I deisntalled the .72 drivers and beta powerstrip and whet back to the .64 and what powerstrip that worked, still nothing is working. The system starts without powerstrip loading and the image on the monitor is stable but the RPTV won't sync. Once I launch Powerstrip it goes out of sync and I can't get anything back to a stable image. The hotkeys also don;t work and the check box is enabled. Thoughts? Buying and ATI card with the HDTV from DVI adapter seems liek an option. Thx, Marc |

When you uninstalled PS, did you tell it to remove it your custom resolutions as well?

PS and Nvidis settings
When I removed the Nvidia driver it asked to remove the custom settigs and I said yes. PS never asked. I think PS broke somewhere along the line before all this.
The only custom setting had was a 960x540, everything else was from the custom resolutions in PS. How does Tivo make it so easy? Any suggestions to start clean? Marc |

What I would do is uninstall everything (drivers/ps) and then just reinstall the drivers (they did work somewhat on the TV w/o PS correct?) That should give you a baseline. After that I would re-install PS and give it a shot.

Powestrip trial
Does Powerstrip have an actual time out where it stops working if not purchased? I wonder if this can be a problem for me.
