Send constructive feedback to Hauppauge support. They won't fix it unless enough people report the problems.

I have called tech support 5 times in the past month. The last time was, "known issue, working on it, no eta"

so... foot tap, foot tap, foot tap, foot tap

Also, I have automatic restart turned off right now. although i do restart the server every few days.

EDIT3: I also notice interlacing blur on panning.

EDIT5: I HAVE EVEN NOW GOTTEN A 1080I Blue Screen... going from 1080i to 480i the blue screen is 1080i on a 480i channel... I have also got video with no sound (This looks like it is an issue with 1 channel)... many many issues... I am going to restart and see if they go away...

RESTART DID NOTHING

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but I've got these problems too. Colossus configured with component and spdif. I'm thinking of adding ferrite blocks to the component cables. I get this on almost every recording.

The fix mentioned in my earlier post did fix the issue. I have made and viewed more than 150+ recordings since posting that and have not had any issues.

One thing not mentioned in my post is that I bent the metal post on the computer case where the card interfaces with the exterior of the case back and away from where the component cable adapter plugs into the Colosuss. I did this because the component adapter was snug up against the post and I was not sure I was completely plugged in or whether some sort of noise was being introduced.

It looks to me like a grounding issue (as mentioned above). your grounding issue was probably on the audio side and you worked around that. I'm going to reposition all of my equipment, right now I have it stacked all on top of the PC case and the cables are a rats nest. If that doesn't fix it then I'll try other methods like ferrite blocks on the component cables.

I may be Crazy, but I feel like the Video recorded on my Colossus cards plays back better now that my server is on windows7... is that possible? it looks like the interlacing has improved?

Hello guys.

I am a brand new owner of the Hauppauge Colossus PCI card.

I was having problem of latency (about 3-4 secondes) between the source and the displayed video on WinTV 7, which is the soft delivered with.

So after some research on the Internet, I decided to try SageTV out.
Unfortunately, despite that the Colossus card is recognized in the setup, I can not have anything displayed.

Here is the error message I have :

I am on Win7 Ultimate 64bits.
The drivers for the Hauppauge Colossus are the latest available on the official webpage.

It would really help me out should you have any track to follow in order to fix this issue.

Thanks in advance, sorry for the bad english... :/

And do not hesitate too, should you have any clue about the latency I am encountering on WinTV. ^^

How much latency is acceptable to you? If the answer is zero, I don't think SageTV will be acceptable to you. In fact, I don't think a Colossus will be acceptable to you.

I couldn't tell you exactly what the latency is in my system, other than it is seconds. Using a whole-house system like SageTV, it's kinda a moot point, so long as it isn't something like 15-30 seconds.

Well, the firt commercial argument of the Colossus card was its compatibility with video games consoles and I confess that it was the primary (if not the only...) reason why I bought it.

And to play with 3 seconds of latency is impossible.
Having to wait, even 2 seconds, before to see the repercution on screen after having pushed a button on the paddle is hell ! ^^

I read on some other forums that the latency was almost invisble with softwares like Dscaler but I'm having error messages with them too.
SageTV was probably my last hope. ^^

That is really a shame as the image is gorgeous on WinTV 7 ! But this freaking latency turns me crazy...

Are you using the component pass-thru feature? I would think with that, there would be virtually no latency.

If you want to capture games then connect the console to the Colossus input and the pass-thru output from the Colossus to the TV. You will play the game on the pass-thru so that there is no latency.

You do not need Sage for this the included SW will work.

Thanks for the advice !

What you guys are calling pass-thru method is like I plug on the component input of the Colossus the console and I use the output to connect the card to the TV ?

Thus I should not experience latency with WinTV ?

I'll try that tomorrow ! Thanks again.

Correct, you should be recording in the back ground, not playing the game on the recorded stream.

You should be using the pass-thru to connect to the tv, and it should be as if you had the game console connected directly to the tv.

Thanks for the update. I would like to see the next driver, but I also don't want to waste time installing it, uninstalling it, and reinstalling an older driver if it is less stable then what we have now...not that I want to have the out sync audio and video that i have.
