Lost All My Favorites and History
I just migrated SageTV 7 to a new PC today. The old machine was XP Pro (32 bit), the new is Win 7 (64 bit). I set up SageTV on the new PC and then copied my entire SageTV directory from the old PC over the new copy. The recordings drive was moved from the old PC to the new PC. The recordings show up just fine.
I have no favorites and no history of recordings. I have several backups of my wiz.bin and that I have copied over to replace the existing wiz.bin. It does not work. I manually re-entered most of my favorites and those stay even after deleting and replacing the wiz.* files. My favorites still show up on the old pc when I fire it up. I don't know what to try next. I thought all of that information was stored in wiz.bin. Wayne |

As far as I can remember it is not a good idea to copy the entire folder over. You may have conflicting, and completely incorrect information in your properties file as a result. One should only copy over the wiz.bin file.
Per chance do you have UAC enabled? If so, take a known good copy of the wiz.bin file and put it in the users\USER\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Sage TV location. If memory serves me correctly this might be your issue. Then again knowing my luck today I have it backwards. I don't bother, I have found it better to disable the UAC all together. |

Remember to shut down SageTV first before replacing the Wiz.bin, just want to point out the obvious problem.
But Ender is correct, if you have User Control Access enabled, it would relocate the wiz.bin file. The sure way to tell is if you shut down SageTV, it should update the Modified Date and time of the file. If you don't see it updated, then that's not where it is saving the wiz.bin file. Just turn UAC off if you are comfortable with it off.

Ender
Thanks for the info. I am new to Win 7 (first machine with it) and I just learned a bunch. I ended up doing a search for all the wiz.bin files and when I found the latest I just updated it. Back in business! Mayamaniac I did forget to mention that I did shut down Sage server first. But I have forgotten that one in the past . Life is good again. Wayne |
