Trying to work out why the transcoder parameters have changed between SageTV version 7.0.12 and 7.0.23

Is there any documentation of what the parameters used actually mean.

some of my recordings do not convert successfully, resulting in corrupt video, no audio or not playable at all. (the orginal file plays fine.) This has become alot more frequent since moving to version 7.0.23 mentioned above.

could anyone recommend a good analysis tools for mpg, ts and mp4 files that works on windows. I would like to look at the header, bitrate, codecs etc of the recordings.

I was about to offer a 'me too' since having just upgraded to 7 and find that about +50% of our transcodes are failing, whereas on 6.x we had 100% success. Somethin' broke, and I'm picking up extra material to see if I can narrow the problem before opening a ticket.
