Long time updating beta firmware?
I am doing the beta firmware update for the HD300 and it's been sitting there about 30 minutes now, with the large font "updating, do not turn off" screen showing. Is this normal or is my extender locked up (and possibly going to need a complete restart because it's half-updated)?
Edit: now going on an hour... still stuck. What do I do, unplug it, hope it comes back up, and if it doesn't, follow the "emergency restart" instructions?

Yup, that's pretty much your only option at this point.

I unplugged it and when I powered back up, it came up okay, though it is still showing the old firmware version under "system information". Everything seems to be working fine (and the stuff that was "fixed" in this release doesn't appear to be anything I have had issues with) so I suppose I'll just wait until the next release....

I had the same issue yesterday and unplugged and was forced to do the "emergency restart" routine (had to do it twice for it to work) which reinstalled the 20101007 firmware. I am, now, trying the process again... we'll see what happens this time. UPDATE: This time it went without a hitch. Within five minutes the Firmware version 20101209-0 was installed and everything started as expected. Last edited by RonBoyd; 12-13-2010 at 10:09 AM. |
