Using SageTV with Arcsoft disables CD/DVD drive
I am using SageTV and I installed Arcsoft TotalMedia Extreme v1.0.6.28 to use the Arcsoft video decoders for my recording.
But I recently moved over to Windows 7 and I noticed that installing Arcsoft disables my CD/DVD drive. When I uninstall Arcsoft, then my CD/DVD comes back. Has anyone experienced this before? Does anyone know of a workaround? Thanks. |

What functions of arcsoft software are you needing to use? If it is just the decoders there are ways around actually installing the software.

Yes, I'm just looking to use the decoders in SageTV. I don't use any of the Arcsoft software.

That version of TME does not work with Win7-64. You would need to upgrade to TME2 to get it to work. Upgrade is $50.

Hmmm...that's what I was afraid of.
Is there a way to install the video decoders by themselves without the rest of the software? Will they work with Win7? Thanks! |

Use the built in Microsoft decoders of Windows 7. They work as well if not better than the Arcsoft ones. Choose the Microsoft DTV-DVD Decoder from within Sage.

Under Setup > Detailed Setup > Video/Audio > MPEG2 Video Decoder Filter, I only see Default and the SageTV Decoder. This is where I would normally see the Arcsoft decoder if it was installed.
Do I need to install the Microsoft decoders separately? |

Are you using SageTV v6 or v7. If I recall getthing them to work in v6 involves edits to the properties file. In v7 they should just be there as an option to select.
Also: if you are using v6 there are some codec packs out there that will help you install just the appropriate codec. |

I'm using SageTV version 6.
I am open to using different codecs. I'm using Sage in conjunction with a Hauppauge HD-PVR. I tried using the CoreAVC codec but I had some problems but I always had success with ArcSoft. Thank you! |

Is there a way to install the Arcsoft codecs without installing the rest of the Total Media Extreme software?
Thank you. |
