My 4 year old couldn't really discern the difference between 3D and 2D anyways -most likely because the stereo acuity hadn't developed yet. I think the concern here is more towards the 3DS than anything TV based. Though the 3DS is such a small screen, I'm guessing it's more of a 'hologram' type use than a window use, therefore, the Z depths of most things are all still relatively close to the screen depth (as far as eye convergence is concerned).

Because IMO stereoscopic 3D isn't ready for prime time yet. I just watched Tron 3D, and that's now 2 for 2 theatrical RealD 3D presentations (at two different theaters) I've seen and have left disappointed. The 3D just doesn't seem natural, between the "cardboard cutout" look, or the illusion falling apart, or the gimmicks, or the times when it's just not noticable. IMO it ends up being more distracting than beneficial

The point being that just because you don't have an interest in 3D, since it is a completely optional technology, why would you want it to fail?

3D Support?

I've searched the forums high and low and cannot find any discussion on 3D support. Up here in Canada...and I assume it's the same in the US...3D is taking off. I've got a 3D BR Player and am considering upgrading to a 3D LED TV. My Bell satellite service is also starting to broadcast in Side-by-Side 3D. However, before I do anything with the TV, I want to make sure my Sage setup will support 3D in the first place as I have no intention of moving away from Sage.

Here's what I have:
- SageTV v7 Server
- Bell HD Receivers connected to HDPVRs via Component and Optical Audio
- HDPVRs connected to SageTV Server via USB
- Gigabyte hard-wired network
- HD300 connected to the TV via HDMI 1.4 cable

My questions are:
- Will SageTV be able to capture the Bell Side-by-Side 3D broadcast using the HDPVR without altering its format? I.e. when the HD300 plays it on the 3D TV (Live or Recorded), will the signal still be Side-by-Side 3D that a compatible TV can understand?
- Using DVDFab 3D BD Rip software, can I rip 3D BluRays, put them in my SageTV media folders, and play them through the HD300 and still have the TV interpret in the appropriate 3D mode?

Sorry if my questions are a bit novice and potentially off-the-wall, but I'm new to this 3D stuff.

Thanks.
