Fine tuning channels
Hello,
I am trying to use Pinnacle PCTV Deluxe with Sage TV trial. Looks very promising, however I reside outside US/Canada and my cable TV channel frequences does not match those are available in Sage TV. Is it possible to add custom channels in Sage TV, and/or is it possible to fine tune existing channels? If so, how could I do that? Thanks, Vytautas |

Sage simply uses the channel numbers provided by DirectX/Directshow for the country you are in.. These are predefined by Microsoft.
If these are not working correctly then check that you have the correct country code set in your control panel regional settings or in the sage.properties file, and have selected cable/antenna in the source setup. DirectShow Channel/Frequency mappings can be overridden for fine tuning or changing lineup order by hacking the windows registry. http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...3430#post13430 |

Thank you, that really works!
Is it possible just to watch tv, without recording it to file? Vytautas |

no
but sage will delete the shows you have watched live unless you tell sage to record them you can change this behavior but why would you want to (make it save everything you watch) |

So, if you're watching tv and Sage TV runs out of disk space you can't watch it until I'll clean up Sage TV files? Also, I tryied variuos settings of Sage TV video directory, but result is always the same - the longer you watch TV the less space on your hard disk remains. Is this the way it should be?

Sage will only use the amount of disk space you allow it when you set it up. Once it hits that limit it will begin deleting for sure.

So I set limit to say N Gb and set the leave free option. Right? Now, my sage TV is set up exactly that way, but it successfully crashed after 27kb left on my HDD That's wrong?
BTW, how could I disable on screen controls in older versions of Sage TV (1.4 for example) Thanks for fast replyies! Vytautas |

One thing to check for is that the Recycle bin is disabled for that drive.

Ok, I did so:
1. goto detailed setup/general/video directories/modify/C:\ ... \Video 2. set diskspace to 2.0Gb 3. Diskspace rule: leave free 4. Save changes. 5. Restarted Sage TV Now, launched channel through Live TV. Unfortunetely, nothing happens even if disk space remains below 2.0Gb. Video directory's size keeps growin'. Reycycle Bin is empty - those temporary files are not deleted at all. If settings are correct looks like they're corrupted or ignored. Also, sometimes I have a trouble with Sage TV's overlay. When I launch it, I got only black screen ( with menu items above ). The only way to fix it, is restart of system. Interestingly - if I launch VMR instead of overlay, I get correct image. Vytautas |

Is your java runtime up to date? If it isn't, uninstall the one currently installed & install the latest one.

Ok, I'll try. But I downloaded runtime from java.sun.com, so it's unlikely for it to be old.

Found no solution yet. BTW - my HDD is divided into two partitions, maybe this is the case?
What should happen then Sage TV runs out of space? It should delete file, and continue writing to another? Will that be noticeble while watching TV? Vytautas |

I solved problems above by reinstalling Sage TV.
Now, I would like to understand how Sage TV splits file. I'm going to use sage tv primary for watching tv, not for recording. Isn't it possible to make Sage TV working this way: record to one file, after some time period or space amount start another file and delete older one? Vytautas |

every 2 hours while watching Live TV sage TV creates new file.
1. Am I able to control the lenght of that file, say make it longer or shorter? (not just 2 hours). 2. How could I make sage tv to delete that first file? Please, help. Vytautas |

actually sage creates a new file for each show you watch
and the length of the file is baesd upon the in the info the guide you should look at sagerecorder if you do not want sage to record based from the guide much cheaper and you can make the files as long or short as you want also sageTV does delete everything unless you tell it to record it or it is favorite you will find if you set up favorites that you will never again watch liveTV and simply just watch your favorite shows and you are always able to catch them I thought the same as you but just became like everyone else |
