UK TV Listings, Sage TV V2, trial
Has anybody got the XMLTV stuff from the tv_grab_rt_uk to work
with Sage TVV2? I'm new to Sage, have followed the links and generated an epgdata.xml file but can't get any listings to appear in Sage. This now seems out of date for V2 http://mta.techno.org/epg/ Thanks in advance for any comments. The instructions at the link were also out of data for v1.4.10
but the plugin still works. I am using the plugin from the UK forum to be able to get the additional actor info when i run tv_grab_uk_rt in --slow mode.Obvious question to start with: is there both channel and programme data in your epgdata.xml, if not then it is not Sage's problem ![]() When you configured the source, did you get a channel lineup with the channel names you selected for the grabber -- if so it means the plugin is probably working, but there is a possible problem with the data. If not, it means that either the plugin is not working, or the data is not valid. Frequent problems are: spaces or other special characters at the end of the sage.properties line specifying the epgplugin editing the sage.properties file while sage is running/asleep -- sage needs to be closed! capitalisation of the pugin name -- it is case sensitive... Have you tried the plugin tester(s) (which read the xml file in the same way that Sage does, but via a command line, shwoing error messages)? http://forums.sage.tv/forums/showthr...=7250#post7250 http://forums.sage.tv/forums/showthr...5744#post15744

Thanks for the swift and helpful response.
I had a .xml file but if failed the plugintest. After editing the channel names to start 1 BBC1, 2 BBC2 etc as suggested in a linl it looks better <--------------start-----------> java -cp .;Sage.jar PluginTester <snip> in addAiringPublic in addShowPublic in addAiringPublic in setLineup Test complete, result was 'true'. <--------------end------------- I'm now confused as to how to combine the datasource with the tuner. (I'm assuming I now have a small set of valid data in the .xml file.) eg Setup, setup wizard,Add new source select my (only card) Hauppage WinTV PVR PCI II Capture Use tuner on capture card to tune Antenna/Broadcast 2 options follow a) Use Programming Data Guide with this source b) Do not use programming data guide with this source a) Gives 2 choices Cable or satelite, please enter your zip code Local broadcast over the air b) gives me no options What do I do to show the UK channels in my .xml file? ========================== A different less important question is can you delete/hide unused channels? say you use 10 channels out of 60, can you display just the 10?

Quote:
add new source > Use Programming Data Guide with this source > Local broadcast over the air , Then enter zipcode as 00000 This Should then list XMLTV and you select it. You shoudd then see a list of channels from your XMLTV file, if you are viewing overair channels thorough a tv tuner you will need to remap the channel numbers (for example 50 is C4) Also if there are some channels that you dont want listed that are in your xmtv file you can deselect then at this stage |

Thanks for the suggestions on EPG data but I have not succeeded yet.
the data does pass the PlugInTester Has anybody got a working listings file for the UK? Perhaps I can load this up as a next step. What I did: from main menu, setup, setup wizard: choose "use programming guide data with this source" 2 options: Cable or Satellite Local Broadcast Select Cable or Satellite Enter zip code: If enter 00000 get choice of 4: cband directtv dishnetwork voom If enter 'TRIAL' (no quotes) Error connecting to SageTV server. Please be sure your internet connection is established If I select "Local broadcast" I can pick from list of US stations and it retrieves today's listings Thanks in advance for any comments. |

Sorry, I missed this before... European (and probably everywhere apart from US and CA) users are better off using this plugin which does not need channelnumbers in the XMLTV chanel display name:
