My lowly PII 450Mhz and Sonic Decoder for best performance???

I have been using the "Default" settings for audio and video decoders and 3.25 gb/hr and have been generally happy with the results on my PII 450 Mhz, 384 mb Ram. There are times when the computer has to stop and think about things.

I have been reading in posts about other peoples experience and see the Sonic CinePlayer DVD Decoder Pack
supposedly would reduce the load on my CPU? If I buy this decoder would it help things or would it slow things down even more? Would I use the VMR9 for this?
Thanks
