Placeshifter APPCRASH after Win7 x64 SP1 applied
After applying the recently released SP1 for Windows 7, my Placeshifter v7.0.23 crashes as the Servers Manager opens. I have uninstalled, restarted, and re-installed with the same results. I have another PC with the same motherboard (Intel Skulltrail), also with SP1 applied, but it's working fine. The only OS/hardware difference being Win7 Ultimate x64 w/ two quad proc Xeons & SLI GTX460's crashing, while Win7 Pro x64 w/ one quad proc Xeon & GTX260 is working fine.

I upgraded Java to v6 Update 24 and the Fault Module Name changed. This now seems to be pointing at the nVidia drivers.

Further followup:
I reinstalled nVidia drivers x64 v266.58, the current WHQL release. Still have the APPCRASH when launching Placeshifter. Found Google Earth also crashes at startup. I run my SLI nVidia in "Surround" mode, but disabling SLI still didn't stop the crashes. BTW, Pre-SP1, Surround mode does ruin the video aspect in placeshifter. Video playback was stretched 3x wider than it should be, even when played within a window. After uninstalling Win7 x64 SP1, Placeshifter and Google Earth quit crashing. Just a heads up for everyone else that SP1 becomes publicly available tomorrow (2/22/11), and you may end up with this same problem. Since it gave me the problem on one of two near identical computers, it may be isolated to nVidia 400 series video cards.

i have this same problem with the mc. Something with the latest nvidia drivers and sp1 not playing nice with aero. I had to disable desktop composition to get it to stop.

Well, I just installed SP1 again, and no trouble this time around. The first install was via the full release downloaded from M$, but the second time was done via windows update. I didn't make any changes to aero settings, or nVidia drivers. Go figure...
