Dishnetwork remote control
I have 2 hd-pvrs hooked to 2 vip 211 recievers. 1 is on the standard remote channel and the other I have set to remote channel 12 is there a way to go into the standard remote code and change the channel number and then save it as a reciever code and call it reciever 2? Then go into satellite setup and select that file for the remote code. I done a couple of searches but did not find much.
Thanks Wayne

I don't fully understand what you are trying to do. If you are trying to use the IR transmitter in the HD-PVR, I would recommend that you don't. Get a USB-UIRT instead. I have one and have IR files for the two DishNetwork receiver IDs. That one USB-UIRT will send the codes to both receivers. You can set zones on the USB-UIRT if you don't want to change the reciever addresses, but this was easier and didn't require any additional hardware.

I have the usb-uirt. When I set up my satellite receivers I learned all of my remotes codes because I did not find the exact reciever I had, listed in the remote section. I have problems once in a while that my learned codes don't work 100 percent of the time. So In my searching I found that someone said I could use the dish 311 codes for the 211 Recievers that I have. So what I need to do since I have 2 recievers is to change the remote control to a different remote channel to control the second reciever and not interfere with the first one. So what I would like to do is to open up the first remote control code and change the channel setting in it to my second reciever code of 8 and save it as reciever 2 and use a good code package instead of trying to relearn all of the remote buttons on receiver 2

Maybe I am not understanding your question, but can't you just go into the Sage folder's IR codes, take the IR code package that works, copy and paste it and call it, say, Dish Code Set 2 ?
I did that when I was having issues learning a couple of codes for my Dish stuff; what I got right, I saved and then copied and then added to the copy (I needed the "select" code before and after, messed with timing, etc.). Shadeblue has a great IR reader as part of the STB Keep Alive utility that you can copy and paste the learned IR code out of into the IR file you are going to use. Also, dumb question, but if you are using the dual emitter option, you are using the stereo IR emitter plug, right? I've also heard of problems if you don't have the 56KHz USB-UIRT IR module as well.

OK, again, maybe I am not understanding, but I did just that by "reading" the "select" code with shadeblue's STB Keep Alive utility, then I went into the IR codesest in the sage folder, opened it with Notepad, and edited it in. Then I copied it and renamed it "Dish Code 2" and called that codeset from the tuner setup menu. When I opened the option to add things to the channel codes, "select" then appeared along with 0-9. As far as I know that ability to add special codes extends to anything, so you could read any IR keystroke with Shade's utility and then put it into a customized IR file in the Sage folder, using one of the other ones as a general template for syntax and stuff.
Shadeblue's utility has a mini utility within it that shows you the code as you "blast" it into the receiver on the USB-UIRT. You can then copy and paste it accordingly. I'm not trying to irritate you; I suspect I am missing something here.

In my searching I found a post that said I could use the 311 codes for my 211 recievers. Since sage does not list my 211 recievers ( the last I had checked), but does for the 311 reciever in the ir control, I was wanting to open up the 311 code and make a change to the ir channel for which my second reciever is on and save it as reciever 2 and would save the hassle of learning all of the buttons. I am still trying to find out when you open up the code what indicates the ir channel in the code. I am not fond of learning codes unless it is a last resort. I think if you can find a code set for your application it works a lot better. I have found that if you learn a code from the remote it does not seam to function as good as the original, such as holding down a channel button to change or jump multiple channels where as on a learned remote button it only does one channel at a time and holding the button down does not duplicate the same effect as the original.

setting up 1212 HD PVR with 211 and Homerun
I have read through this post, trying to get a handle on setup for a couple HD PVR.
I am trying to hook to a: SiliconDust HD Home run Network Tuner HD PVR 1212 Dish 211 Sat Tuner W7 (64 bit) USB-UIRT I have read through the PDF book on IR Devices and looked at this thread and a couple others, but still a little lost on setting up the whole thing. Any words of wisdom or basic how to that I can work the details on??? I actually have 2 of the 211s and 2 1212s but want to get just one going first.
