Video Length

The beta appears to be working very well with Colossus, but there is one notable issue. The video lengths on recorded movies all appear to be incorrect (e.g., a 2+ hour movie will show as a 15 minute length). When trying to play back the movie in Sage, it will stop after 15 minutes. Third party players will play the full movie, but they will not pause correctly due to the incorrect length. Any idea how to fix this prospectively in Sage (or is this a beta bug, as it did not happen with the prior released build). Also, for the .TS files that have already been recorded, is there any editor out there that will work with .TS files? Thanks!

I have recorded a dozen hour plus shows or so with the colossus and the recent beta, all show the correct length.

Which drivers are you using?

I'm using the Colossus driver that comes with the updated WinTV package online from Hauppauge support. Are thre any other drivers that you are thinking of?

FWIW, as I'm looking more deeply into this, I'm thinking that it is a driver issue and not a Sage issue, as I recorded several videos with the ArcSoft app that came with the Colossus, and the lengths are incorrect on those as well. Are you aware of any way to simply edit the metadata on TS files to fix the lengths?

Have you tried the Quick Stream Fix Tool in VideoRedo?

VideoRedo is a paid app, but they do have a free trial. QSF can fix these types of problems with MPEG-2 files. I think it can also fix h.264 *.TS files, but not positive.

TS file durations are not determined by metadata. They're determined by looking at the timestamp on the first and last packets in the file and then subtracting them. Usually when file generated by hardware devices have timestamp problems like this it's because they're resetting them incorrectly partway through the file. Hauppauge is your best bet for support on this one since the problem is on their end.
