HDMI signal drop

Hello,

I have 2 HD300's in extender mode. I use them for my TV shows and movie library. One thing I have noticed that's kind of irritating is this: When going from the GUI to a TV show or movie, or from one channel to another, the HDMI signal is lost for a second or two, then it finally comes back up and I can watch. I do not have any other HMDI sources that do this. DirectTV DVR did not do this, and my Oppo BDP-83 does not do this. They are able to switch video modes very quickly, and there is no loss in signal between the switch.

The main reason this is annoying is that on my projector, when that signal is not present, it goes through a process of having to lock back on the new signal, which can take a few more seconds. I now am up to 5 seconds just to get something on the screen. Switch channels? Here we go again. Go back to GUI? another 5 seconds. After a while it gets really annoying.

Can anyone confirm the same behavior? Is there anything that can be done to remedy this?

You can turn off Native resolution switching, and it will stay at 1080.

Yes, but I want native resolution switching, because the de-interlacing on the sage is total crap (terrible combing on motion). There should be no reason for a source device to have a 2+ second drop out in video signal just to switch resolutions.

In Media Player mode, there is the option to "fast switch" or something like that, which talks about dealing with the slow response of the TV.

So is there something similar under extender mode?

This has nothing to do with the source device. It's the TV that is slow to sync to the new signal. Get a better TV.

It has EVERYTHING to do with the source device. As I stated earlier, the displays I have have no problem syncing up with other sources that switch resolutions. SageTV is the ONLY one that drops the HDMI signal.

Case in point: one of my displays has a very advanced video processor (http://www.lumagen.com/testindex.php...anceXE_details)
in between it and the sources. There is no better HDMI-sink than the inputs on this device. It can sync to a signal faster than anything else I have seen. It is configured to keep the same output mode to the projector, no matter what the input signal. In all cases with all other sources (HD DVD player, regular DVD player, DTV. Blu-ray player, AppleTV), none have this problem. ONLY the HD300 drops the HDMI signal for a couple seconds when trying to switch video modes. This of course causes the video processor to drop its output, because there is no longer a valid input for a couple seconds. I have also tested on my other display (without a video processor) and it sees the same behavior.
