Request: Add season/episode info to file name

Just a simple request, if the season/episode info is available (love it thank you), is there a way it can be added to file name in the standard SxxExx format?

Would make coordinating with third party stuff soooo much easier.

THANKS!

Sure, we could add a property that enables it. How specifically should it be formatted, and where would you want it in the filename? We MUST preserve the 'AiringID-SegmentNum.mpg' suffix in the format 'Title-Episode-AiringID-SegmentNum.mpg'; so would something like:

'Title-Episode-sXXeYY-AiringID-SegmentNum.mpg' work fine? Is it better to always have 2 digits for the season & episode (i.e. zero pad them on the front), and is lower or uppercase s/e better?

Awesome!!! Most third-party products will detect it anywhere in the name, so position is not important. And while neither is case, I have primarily seen SxxExx with capital letters and 2-digit(0 padded) season and episode. I am unaware of any tv show that exceeds 99 seasons or 99 episodes in a season, with the exception of maybe soap operas or news shows which may require a 3 digit episode.

yeah for this. MOst scrappers require the pad s00xe00 would be perfect I think and the placement would work as well. This will be a great addition for mymovies users and make it much easier on my to scrap the information.

Most cases I've seen have been Title S/E Episode so I would think the following might work best: (will let others chime in also)

Title-sXXeYY-Episode-AiringID-SegmentNum.mpg'

This also makes sorting easier to view where you are missing an episode thru directory lists.

Personally, think Series should be padded to 2 digits, along with Episode.
Case for s/e probably doesn't matter that much...I tend to use uppercase but that is personal preference.

I believe the below makes sorting by filename ... giving correct results... Also it will appear in the correct sequence while browsing with explorer.

'Title-SXXEYY-Episode-AiringID-SegmentNum.mpg'

Gray Wolf you beat me to it

We'll go with this format. Check the release notes for the next build we put out for details.

Title-S##E##-Episode-AiringID-SegmentNum.mpg

As mentioned above this would be great. Yes please pad with 0s when need be to make it two digits. Upper or lower case S##E## should make no difference. I think there are instances when shows do exceed 99 episodes, but that only happens when using absolute numbering such as with many anime series I believe. As I do not have any of these, I do not know if they also have S##E## numbers.

Where are you grabbing these Season and Episode numbers? Shows such as Mythbusters and Dirty Jobs, as well as others, can be an awful mess on many of the user database sites. What happens when there is no available Season or Episode number?

They come in from the guide data is my understanding they aren't using a user database so should be much more accurate.

I have to say, this is SO awesome. This will make things a TON easier to deal with in other apps. It should make scraping a lot easier too.

The fast turnaround on this is amazing. Thanks for listening to your users Sage!

It's sorta hit and miss some episodes get the data others do not. I turned off auto update BMT and found I do not have episodes for most of the new recordings. BMT is still more reliable.

I have been having good luck. It isn't a issue of reliability as it is not scraping the content like bmt. It is a matter of if the data is provided to sagetv by the guide provider.

Yes this is going to be such a great feature, now if they could add a "missing" category to the favorites (i.e First Run/ReRun/New) so that us hoarders can record every episode we are missing. Basically i dont care if its a first run or rerun, if i dont have it recorded I want to record it, because its new to me
