HD300 Network Speed Test Tool?
I found following post and after 4 hours of mucking my wife kicked me out of the house
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...02&postcount=8 Is there some easy tool that checks the speed between my server and HD300? Could sageTV put some program in the extenders to let us test our connection? Seems a lot of questions come up about how exteners are connecting and a tool would be useful. Reason is for this question is my post... http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55446 |

That's the only tool I'm aware of that will speed test from the extender to the server.
Some people are having issues with their Colossus and recordings. It is not specific to an extender. Gerry

put Wireshark on one of your PCs and log the data specifically going to the IP address assigned to HD300, then you can see the streaming speed for any video you care to watch via hd300.
wireshark has a bit of a learning curve but isn't too tough

Crunch is correct that is would be useful to have it baked into the server/extenders/client as built-in-diagnostics, that way people could just "test" the through put to lay that concern to rest.
The process to load iperf at both ends is extra hoops to jump through, and the fact that the extender looses the software each time it's full power cycled is annoying. That and having to telnet in, and actually get some telnet software, etc. As to the Wireshark idea, that would show current bandwidth used, but not capacity, but it would be also useful to have some over the last n-minutes, you have tried to pull n bps but have only effectively gotten m bps.
