sage for tablets

Hi:

I am going to be buying a tablet soon and for some reason feel that the playbook is the way to go. I am not sold for sure, but believe that the playbook will play all video formats (divx, ts, etc). I would like to make sure that there is a way to:

1. Run a sage client on the tablet when I am at home
2. Copy sage recordings to the tablet when I am travelling and don't have internet access (in the car, etc).

I don't use placeshifter, but I guess I could.

Can anyone tell me what I need to know, which tablet to buy, what programs I need, etc?

Thanks.

I forgot to mention that all my sage recordings are ts (HD) and that all my movies are primarily divx

On the BlackBerry devices, the best you can do is use the web server for mobile... You should be able to convert your recordings using an appropriate profile for your device.

On Windows devices, you might be able to run an actual client/placeshifter, but I'm not sure.

On Android or iOS devices, there are some third party applications available...

That's a SageTV plugin, so with SageTV 7 you install the web server from the plugin interface, while your web browser is the client. You don't need to buy any tablet to test it, just install it now and point your favorite web browser to it.

Look at my signature, there are links to the appropriate threads.

Kinda, you do need a SageTV plugin to create some kind of server. And on the tablet you need some app to contact it.

There are various ways to get Sage recordings on an iPad. You can convert and transfer over, or stream your content using TiSage, use the mobile web browser or use Air Video.
