We have no idea what Sage is doing with this, or any other upcoming feature. They may announce tomorrow a beta with DRM support, or they may never announce it.

Sure, that's possible, but it seems wildly unlikely. Wouldn't DRM support require major architectural changes to the backend and the video system? I don't think its much of a leap to say that's not going to come out in the middle of a beta cycle.

Not knowing all that much about DRM I'd say that if Sage decides to add it wouldn't they just be able to add it for cablecard only recordings?

The point is that you wouldn't know if those 'major architectural changes' had already happened or not. S |

That being said, there also is no reason for them to announce that they are beta-testing support for the Prime right now because nobody outside of a very limited group of developers/beta testers/media people are likely to have one in their possession right now. Those people are the only ones who would be able to take advantage of such support, and are probably under NDA's anyhow. They may be working on support for it, and it isn't being advertised due to limited population/NDA's, or they might not have done anything for it just yet. Where their plans are to get this latest series of revisions finalized before starting in on the Prime and "Copy Freely" CableCard content. |

They did increment from 7.0.x to 7.1.x so there were some significant changes made in their view. Of course, their change log also reflects reasonably significant changes that could justify that increment.
