a few general questions...

Just a few things that have been on my mind - answers much appreciated.

1. I am saving at 2gig/hour, and am very happy - I can't distinguish it from live TV. When I want to compare with normal Tivo people though, what number of gigs/hour does Tivo save at for low/medium/high ? Just curious...

2. What _exactly_ does sage save its data as ? I know it is mpeg2, but what are the details ? VBR ? CBR ? - if anyone knows an ffmpeg command line that duplicates exactly what sage does, that would be cool...

3. Will sage tell me / alert me _in any way_ if the destination for its files lags or doesn't keep up with the data sage is writing ? Like, if my fileserver gets very busy all of the sudden and can't keep up with sage (I know, very unlikely), will sage alert me in any way ?

Thanks!!

1. Tivo offers 4 recording qualities. Basic is 1GB/H which is what they use for the hours on the model descriptions and is pretty unwatchable. Medium = 1.5GB, High = 2GB, Best = 3GB.

2. The standard recording settings used CBR. You add your own custom settings that use VBR.

3. no
