Fanart Location

What does this field do and how can you change it?

I have lots of files that Sage originally read in as Movie files. I have now changed these to TV files but the Fanart location still points to the movie folder.

For example I have a kids shows called Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! - here is the filename \\carnoustie\videos\Isabella's Shows\Wubbzy\Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! -- Rush Hour.m4v

I manually edited the metadata to change it to a TV show from a Movie. But the Fanart location still reads -C:\Program Files\SageTV\Fanart\Movies\Rush Hour.

There is valid metadata in C:\Program Files\SageTV\Fanart\Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! but it seems that it is generally not read by the UI - I am currently using Diamond.

Any suggestions on how to fix?

The fanart location is autodetermined and cannot be changed. Basically if takes the central fanart folder and then automatically append TV or Movie based on the MediaType for the file. In theory, when you change the mediatype from Movie to TV, then it should change the fanart location to TV as well. There may be some short term caching going on there that is causing the path to still show the Movies instead of TV.

From the web ui, try clearing the fanart cache from the web ui... Configuration -> Refresh Configurations -> Clear Loaded Image Cache.

I tried clearing the cache but that didn't help. These files were chagned from Movies to TV weeks ago and I am still seeing the problem.

It looks like the problematic files did not have complete metadata and did not properly match in TVDB, at least in terms of having a correct Episode Name and/or a Season and Episode number. Note that Kids' shows are notoriously bad with episode info and you can often have multiple short shows combined into one "episode" and TVDB sometimes treats these groupings of multiple episodes into one merged episode and sometimes it treats them all as separate episodes. As a result I had some shows with fully valid metadata, and some shows with nothing but a title and eposide name that did not match.

I am still investigating this but it looks like I can fix the problem by updating several fields using the Batch Update. Fields that I updated are Metadata Id (aka MediaProviderDataID), MediaTitle, Title and SeriesInfoID. Once I updated all of these fields to be consistent it looks like I now have valid Fanart. One interesting aspect is where I do not have a valid Season it appears to be defaulting to Season 0 - which is fine. There is no episode description nor Season/Episode numbers but I don't really care about that.

@Stuckless - In order to "match" a show in TVDB do you need to have a valid ShowTitle and EpisodeTitle (or Season Num/Episode Num) or is just a ShowTitle enough? If it is just ShowTitle then I am wondering why it wouldn't update - I didn't have a mediatitles.xml entry but is that required as long as my Episode Name is correct? Or have I bastardized the metadata by manually changing the media type from Movie to TV?

It's interesting that updating those fields makes it work. As far as i can tell (or recall) only MediaType and MediaTitle are really used for fanart lookups.

It can match on series name and episode title, but the episode title would have to be exact (or very close). Certainly Season and Episode # is the most reliable but episode title should work as well.
